Indications Dibazol
It is used in the presence of spasms in the area of smooth muscles of vascular tissues. It can also be used to eliminate hypertensive crisis. In case of spasms of smooth muscles of internal organs (ulcers, intestinal colic, cholecystitis or pancreatitis), the severity of pain is reduced by relaxing them.
It can also be prescribed for neurological pathologies: atrophic paralysis syndrome, elimination of residual symptoms of poliomyelitis and Bell's palsy.
Dibazol tablets are often prescribed for gastroenterological, neurological and cardiological diseases.
Release form
The substance is released in tablets, which are packed in a cell-less blister in quantities of 10 pieces.
It is also produced as an injection liquid, inside ampoules with a capacity of 2 ml. There are 10 such ampoules in a box.

Pharmacodynamics
The active element of the drug has an effect on the smooth vascular muscles of internal organs, and in addition, arterioles with venules. The drug can weaken the tone of the blood vessels of the circulatory system, reducing blood pressure and potentiating blood flow to the area of the myocardium zones affected by hypoxia and ischemia, which develop in ischemic heart disease.
The component bendazole can stimulate synaptic movement between spinal neurons, which makes the drug suitable for use in neurology.
The active substance can also have an immunomodulatory effect, because it is similar to levamisole, which belongs to the category of drugs that stimulate immune reactions. The immunostimulating activity of the drug develops due to the fact that bendazole can potentiate the production of endogenous interferon.

Pharmacokinetics
Dibazol has good absorption rates within the digestive system. Metabolic processes lead to the formation of 2 key active metabolic products. The development of medicinal influence is determined after 0.5-1 hour; the effect can last for about 3 hours.
Excretion is mainly via the kidneys; a small portion of the drug's metabolic products is excreted via the intestines.
Dosing and administration
The tablets are prescribed in a dosage of 20-50 mg 2-3 times a day, for 3-4 weeks. Children should take 1-5 mg of the substance 1 time per day (the portion size is selected taking into account the child's age).
In neurology, the medication is used as follows: in a 5 mg dose per day with use every other day; the entire cycle lasts 5-10 days. The therapy must be repeated after 3-4 weeks. Then the treatment is repeated at 1-2 month intervals.
To eliminate a hypertensive crisis, the substance is administered from ampoules in a portion of 30-40 mg. Intravenous or intramuscular injections are given. If a significant increase in blood pressure values and exacerbation of arterial hypertension is noted, Dibazol is administered in a dosage of 20-30 mg intramuscularly, 2-3 times per day. The entire cycle lasts 8-14 days.

Use Dibazol during pregnancy
Dibazol is allowed to be used in pregnant women in situations where it is assumed that the benefit from it is more likely than the risk of complications in the fetus.
Breastfeeding should be discontinued while using the drug.
Contraindications
Among the contraindications:
- personal intolerance to bendazole;
- tablets containing 20 mg should not be prescribed to children;
- low blood pressure;
- ulcers in the gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by bleeding;
- diseases affecting the renal system;
- severe cardiac failure;
- diabetes mellitus;
- decreased muscle tone.
Caution is required when used by the elderly (especially for a long time). Also very careful use by people who require increased concentration and attention at work, because the therapy can cause dizziness and impaired motor coordination.

Side effects Dibazol
The medication is usually tolerated without complications, only occasionally changes in ECG parameters are noted, caused by a change in the left ventricular ejection fraction. In people with a predisposition, symptoms of allergy, dizziness and a decrease in blood pressure may occur.
After intravenous use of the drug, pain may occur at the injection site.
Overdose
Taking too much of the drug can cause adverse effects such as feeling hot, dizziness, hyperhidrosis, decreased blood pressure and nausea.
The drug has no antidote, so in case of intoxication it is first necessary to reduce the absorption of the active substance in the gastrointestinal tract by inducing vomiting, performing gastric lavage and prescribing the use of enterosorbents (activated carbon, smecta or polysorb, etc.). If other clinical symptoms are noted, step-by-step symptomatic procedures are performed.
Interactions with other drugs
A potentiation of the hypotensive effect of drugs is noted when combined with diuretics and antihypertensive medications.
Bendazole can prevent the increase in TPR values that develops after the use of β-blockers.
The antihypertensive activity of Dibazol is potentiated when used together with phentolamine.
Storage conditions
Dibazol must be kept in a dark place at a temperature of no more than 30°C.
Shelf life
Dibazol in the form of injection liquid can be used within a 4-year period from the date of production of the substance, and tablets have a 5-year shelf life.
Application for children
Older children are prescribed tablets with a dosage of 4 mg, and infants need to prepare special solutions (this happens in pharmacies designed for this purpose). In pediatrics, Dibazol is used for the following disorders:
- muscle hypotonia arising as a result of difficult childbirth, prolonged hypoxia, hereditary diseases of the neuromuscular system and various chromosomal syndromes;
- spasms with colic. The drug has a mild effect on smooth muscles, eliminating pain associated with spasms of smooth muscle tissue of internal organs;
- increased fatigue and stress. The medication has adaptogenic properties, due to which it helps to strengthen the non-specific protective function of the child's body;
- ARVI, flu and colds. The drug potentiates the production of interferon after the virus has penetrated into the child's body.
Reviews
Dibazol mostly receives positive reviews from patients who have used it. Parents note that the medication quickly eliminates colic that occurs in children in the case of smooth muscle spasms. Other patients write that the drug quickly lowers blood pressure in the event of a hypertensive crisis.
Only rarely is the development of negative symptoms reported, because Dibazol is intended for situational use and cannot be used in long courses.
