Dermovate is a drug from the GCS category with a local method of application.

Indications Dermoveita.

It is used to eliminate the following problems:

  • eczema in various forms;
  • lichen planus;
  • psoriasis;
  • discoid lupus erythematosus;
  • diseases affecting the skin and resistant to therapy with less active topical corticosteroids.

Dermovate ointment should be used to treat skin pathologies characterized by dryness, hyperkeratosis, and thickening of the skin, because the ointment base helps retain moisture within the skin layer.

The cream should be prescribed in situations opposite to those described above - in diseases during which there is a pronounced inflammation, against the background of which weeping is observed.

Release form

The medicine is released in the form of an ointment or cream, in a tube with a capacity of 25 g. Inside the box there is 1 tube with cream or ointment.

Pharmacodynamics

Due to the treatment with the drug, the possibility of marginal location of neutrophils inside the vascular bed is prevented. In addition, the production of lymphokines together with the inflammatory exudate is reduced and the movement of macrophages is prevented.

The intensity of infiltration and granulation processes is reduced - the medication has a local anti-allergic, anti-exudative, and antipruritic effect.

Pharmacokinetics

Average peak values of clobetasol are observed in plasma after 13 hours from the moment of the first treatment of healthy skin with 30 grams of ointment (or after 8 hours from the moment of repeated treatment). This indicator is equal to 0.63 ng/ml.

After repeated treatment with 30 g of cream, the peak values of the substance are on average higher than the same indicator after treatment with ointment. Cmax is noted after 10 hours.

With a single treatment with 25 g of the drug in the form of an ointment in people with psoriasis or eczema, after 3 hours, an average peak value in plasma is noted - it is equal to 2.3 and 4.6 ng/ml, respectively.

The metabolic processes that occur with the active element of the drug have not yet been thoroughly studied.

Dosing and administration

Apply a thin layer of ointment or cream to the affected areas of the skin 1-2 times a day, depending on the severity of the disease.

It is more appropriate to use the cream for diseases with a strong inflammatory process and oozing, and the ointment is more suitable for eliminating pathologies that cause dry skin.

The duration of the course is selected for each individual, taking into account the diagnosed disease and its severity. However, it can last no longer than 1 month, if there is no need to extend it.

In case of exacerbation of previously treated skin pathologies, short repeat courses may be prescribed.

If the external symptoms of the disease have not completely disappeared, after completing the course of using Dermovate, you should switch to more moderate local drugs from the GCS category.

In extremely severe forms of skin surface lesions (especially hyperkeratosis), it is possible to increase the anti-inflammatory effect of the drug by applying a polyethylene film to the affected area (it should be left on overnight). A hermetic bandage is applied to the affected area to achieve a stronger medicinal effect. If the result has been achieved, it is allowed to continue the therapy without using a hermetic bandage.

It is recommended to use no more than 50 g of the medicine per week.

Use Dermoveita. during pregnancy

Pregnant women can use the cream or ointment only with the permission of the attending physician. And in any case, during this period, local GCS should not be used in large portions and over a long period of time.

There is no information on the safety of using Dermovate during breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Main contraindications:

  • common acne;
  • Hyde's nodular prurigo;
  • itching in the perianal and genital area;
  • perioral dermatitis;
  • plaque psoriasis or widespread pustular type;

Side effects Dermoveita.

When the drug was used locally, hypersensitivity was observed only in isolated cases.

Local symptoms of intolerance manifest themselves in the following way: in the form of erythema, rashes, urticaria, itching and burning, and in addition to this, contact dermatitis of allergic origin. These signs appear in the areas treated with the drug and are similar to the painful manifestations for the elimination of which the drug was prescribed.

If the patient develops signs of intolerance, the use of the medication should be discontinued.

In isolated cases, signs of hypercorticism (endocrine dysfunction) were observed. They developed in the case of using too large portions of the cream or ointment, and also when treating too large areas of skin with Dermovate - such actions led to increased systemic absorption of the active element of the drug. Such symptoms are most often observed in children and infants, and also when applying the drug under an occlusive dressing. It is necessary to remember that in a nursing child, a diaper can act precisely as an occlusive dressing.

If the drug in a dose not exceeding 50 g per 7 days was used by an adult, the suppression of the adrenal glands or pituitary gland is transient. Normal values of these organs return after the completion of a short course of treatment with local GCS.

Occasionally, the use of drugs leads to the expansion of superficial vessels of the systemic blood flow - this is especially often noted when the drug is rubbed too intensively into skin folds, as well as when using sealed dressings.

Disorders of the subcutaneous layer and skin surface sometimes manifest themselves in the form of atrophy with atrophic stripes. The main signs of pathology are occasionally exacerbated, and in addition, thinning of the skin, changes in its pigmentation and the development of pustular psoriasis or hypertrichosis are noted. Such symptoms also often arise due to rubbing ointments/creams into the area of skin folds or using sealed bandages.

Overdose

Since Dermovate in both its forms is used only externally locally, the likelihood of signs of acute intoxication is extremely low.

If chronic poisoning has developed due to prolonged use of the drug (or in high doses), hypercorticism syndrome may occur - in this case, it is necessary to reduce the dose of the drug or stop treatment with local GCS. Treatment should be stopped under the supervision of the attending physician, because there is a risk of adrenal cortex insufficiency.

Interactions with other drugs

Since Dermovate is used exclusively externally, no significant clinical interactions with other medications have been noted.

trusted-source[ 12 ], [ 13 ]

Storage conditions

Dermovate should be kept in normal conditions for medicines. Temperature – no more than 30°C.

Shelf life

Dermovate can be used for 2 years from the date of release of the drug.

trusted-source[ 14 ]

Application for children

Since the use of the drug can cause suppression of the adrenal cortex, it is prohibited to use it in children for a long period of time and in large doses.

If a child uses Dermovate or other topical GCS, a comprehensive medical examination is required at least once a week.

Analogues

Analogues of this drug are usually prescribed if a transition to a more moderate treatment is required, or to those people for whom this drug is not suitable for some reason.

Among the proposed analogues of this medication are such substances with local action: Lokoid with Tricort and Laticort, as well as Afloderm and Fluorocort.

Reviews

Dermovate is used to eliminate various pathologies affecting the skin (including psoriasis). Reviews indicate that the drug demonstrates good results, quickly alleviating symptoms and subsequently completely eliminating all external signs of the disease. Both the ointment and the cream are reviewed positively.

Although it should be noted that on medical forums it is often reported that the drug does not show the above-mentioned high effectiveness in case of relapses of the disease (eczema or psoriasis).

It is also necessary to take into account that frequent use of the drug, especially in high doses, can provoke the development of resistance of the body to it. Therefore, it is recommended to use the ointment or cream only in the minimum effective portions (this is especially true for the treatment of small children).
