Overdose

There have been no cases of acute intoxication with St. John's wort preparations.

In case of overdose of the drug, the patient must avoid exposure to the sun and UV rays for a period of 1-2 weeks.

Interactions with other drugs

Medicines containing St. John's wort extract are capable of increasing the activity of a large number of enzymes involved in the processes of drug metabolism. As a result of such reactions, a decrease in plasma indices may be observed, as well as a weakening of the medicinal effectiveness of individual drugs (such as cyclosporine with indinavir, warfarin with digoxin, as well as theophylline and contraceptive drugs).

Due to the drug interaction of the drug with triptan derivatives (including sumatriptan with zolmitriptan and naratriptan), as well as with antidepressants (especially SSRIs such as fluvoxamine, sertraline and citalopram with paroxetine and fluoxetine), there is a potentiation of negative serotonin reactions.

In addition to the above-mentioned drugs, Deprim can interact with other drugs that are metabolized by enzymes of the hemoprotein P 450 system.

The effect on enzymes can also occur after discontinuing medications containing St. John's wort extract. Because of this, Deprim can interact with other medications for approximately 2 weeks after stopping its use.

When using the drug for a long time together with other drugs (more than 1 week) with subsequent completion of the course, it is necessary to take into account the possibility of negative effects of the drug taken in combination with Deprim.

During the period of therapy, it is necessary to abstain from drinking alcohol.
