Delor is a corticosteroid for topical use.

Indications Delors

Indicated for the following diseases:

  • eczema;
  • psoriasis (except for the widespread plaque type – vulgar form of psoriasis);
  • lichen planus;
  • skin diseases that are resistant to less potent corticosteroids.

Release form

It is produced in the form of a cream in 25 g tubes. One pack contains 1 tube of cream.

Pharmacodynamics

Clobetasol propionate is a powerful local GCS used in dermatology. Its properties include anti-inflammatory. In addition, it reduces the intensity of itching, as well as the process of collagen synthesis in the skin.

Pharmacokinetics

After absorption through the skin, the drug is likely to undergo the same metabolism process as when used systemically. However, the systemic metabolism of clobetasol propionate has not yet been fully studied.

Re-absorption of the active ingredient by the skin has significant individual differences and can be enhanced by the use of an airtight dressing, as well as by treating damaged or inflamed skin surfaces with the cream.

Dosing and administration

The affected areas are treated with the cream 1-2 times a day until improvement occurs. The maximum total weekly dosage is 50 g. The use of the drug should be stopped immediately upon achieving noticeable improvements. The recommended duration of the treatment course is no more than 4 weeks, during which constant monitoring of the patient's condition is required.

If the drug has not produced results after 4 weeks of use, treatment adjustments are necessary. If it is necessary to continue therapy with GCS, it is recommended to switch to less powerful drugs.

In the process of eliminating persistent skin lesions (especially with hyperkeratosis), the anti-inflammatory properties of Delor can be enhanced by using (at night) a sealed bandage (use polyethylene film for this). As a rule, 1 such procedure is enough, and then the cream is applied openly.

Use Delors during pregnancy

Information on the use of drugs during pregnancy is quite limited. In any case, pregnant women are prohibited from using topical GCS in large quantities and for a long time.

Contraindications

Among the contraindications:

  • the presence of pink or common acne (rosacea or acne);
  • viral infection of the skin (caused by chickenpox or the herpes simplex virus);
  • intolerance to individual components of the drug;
  • damage to the skin caused by bacteria or fungi;
  • dermatoses that develop in children under 1 year of age (including diaper dermatitis).

Since the safety of using the drug during lactation has not been confirmed, it is necessary to stop breastfeeding before starting to use Delor.

Side effects Delors

The use of drugs may result in the following side effects:

  • immune system: isolated - hypersensitivity;
  • local skin reactions: rashes with itching and burning, and also the development of urticaria, erythema or contact dermatitis of an allergic type. Usually these symptoms appear at the sites of treatment with the cream. If such manifestations occur, the use of the drug should be stopped immediately;
  • endocrine system organs: isolated cases - cushingoid symptoms. As with the use of other topical GCS, long-term use of drugs in high doses on large areas of the skin can provoke the development of hypercorticism, since systemic absorption of the drug occurs. Most often, such a side effect develops when using an airtight bandage, and in addition in infants (for them, diapers become such a "bandage"). If the adult weekly dosage is no more than 50 g, the process of suppression of the adrenal cortex and pituitary gland is reversible - after the cancellation of the treatment course using GCS;
  • cardiovascular system: occasionally, blood vessels on the skin surface may dilate. Intensive long-term therapy with powerful GCS may cause vasodilation (especially when using occlusive dressings or rubbing cream into skin folds);
  • reactions of the skin and subcutaneous tissues: local atrophy or stretch marks may occasionally occur; isolated cases – pigmentation may change, the skin may become thinner, hypertrichosis or exudative psoriasis may develop. Intensive and prolonged use of the drug may result in the above-mentioned atrophic disorders (especially if an airtight dressing was used). Very rarely, elimination of psoriasis with GCS (or as a result of discontinuing GCS treatment) may cause the pathology to transform into a pustular form.

Overdose

The development of an acute overdose is generally unlikely, but as a result of improper use of the drug or in the case of a chronic overdose, signs of hypercorticism may appear.

To relieve symptoms, use of Delor should be gradually discontinued.

Interactions with other drugs

Combined use with drugs that can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme (such as ritonavir or itraconazole) slows down the process of corticosteroid metabolism and can provoke the development of a systemic effect. The clinical significance of such interactions depends on the dosage of the GCS, the route of administration, and the potency of the CYP3A4 enzyme inhibitor.
