Dekasan

Dekasan is an effective antiseptic, a bis-quaternary ammonium derivative. It is intended for external use: mainly for washing of wounds and affected surfaces of skin.

Indications Dekasana

• Pathology of the skin (bacterial, abscess or fungal etiology, as well as eczematous eruptions of microbial nature).
•  Inflammatory purulent skin pathologies with the presence of open wound surfaces and with the need to install drains (furunculosis, carbuncles, finger felon, infection in wounds, purulent process in fatty tissue, etc.).
•  Inflammation of the oral mucosa (gum disease, periodontal disease).
•  Inflammatory processes of the broncho-pulmonary system.
•  Inflammation in the colon and urogenital system.
•  For disinfection of cavities and superficial wounds, surgical instruments, equipment, etc.

Release form

 Decassane is 0.02% decamethoxin solution with saline solution.

 It is dispensed in bottles of 50, 100, 200, 400 ml, or in packages of polymer materials of 50, 100, 250, 500 ml, 1 liter, 2 liters, 3 liters and 5 liters. 

Pharmacodynamics

Dekasan shows:

• pronounced bactericidal properties with respect to staphylococcal, streptococcal, diphtheria infection, pseudomonas and capsule-forming bacteria;
• fungicidal properties in relation to yeast and mold fungi, causative agents of erythrasma, trichophytosis, epidermophytosis, microsporia;
• protivoprotozoevoe effects on giardiasis and trichomoniasis;
• antiviral abilities.

 Dekassan is especially effective against bacteria resistant to antibiotic therapy (treatment with penicillin, tetracycline, erythromycin, etc.). Resistance to Dekasan itself is developing very slowly. 

Pharmacokinetics

The agent for external use does not penetrate into the systemic bloodstream from intact skin, mucous and wound surfaces. For this reason, data on the pharmacokinetic properties of Dexan are absent.

Dosing and administration

Standard Dexan solution is most often used in dermatological practice for rubbing, washing the skin areas, or for applying lotions.

When forming fistulas, intra flush lavage is practiced. The duration of therapy is up to 5 days.

In urology, the solution is used in the treatment of chronic inflammatory processes in the urethra and bladder, beforehand diluting it with boiled or distilled water in a proportion of 1 to 7. For washing use about half the liquid obtained. The duration of therapy is approximately 20 procedures.

With colon pathologies and inflammation of the prostate, a warm solution is used as an enema twice a day, not more than 100 ml, until the signs of an acute period of the disease completely stop.

With pathologies of the oral cavity, the medication is used for irrigation (100-150 ml) or lotions for 10-15 minutes. For the treatment of periodontal diseases (I-II st.) With the presence of dystrophic and inflammatory processes, the gingival pockets wash Dekasan in a warm form. You can simultaneously use the applied to the affected gums moistened in a solution of napkins, until the signs of an inflammatory reaction are eliminated. With ulcers of mucous membranes, thrush the drug is used for rinsing up to 5 times a day. The duration of therapy is not less than 10 days.

Chronic tonsillitis requires frequent rinsing and rinsing of the tonsils. It is recommended to simultaneously wash the nasopharynx.

With intrabronchial use of Dekasan (with purulent bronchiectasias, hypoplasia, acute period of chronic inflammatory process in the bronchi), the following treatment scheme is defined:

• microtraeostomal method - no more than 50 ml twice a day;
• transnasal catheterization - no more than 10 ml once a day;
• Inhalation ultrasound method - no more than 10 ml to 2 times a day;
• tracheobronchial lavage - not more than 100 ml.

The duration of therapy is 14-30 days.

To remove the inflammatory processes of the external genitalia, the solution can be used for douching. Dekasan is heated to body temperature and injected with a syringe about 100 ml three times a day. Similarly, it is possible to conduct disinfection of the birth canal before delivery. After birth, the drug is used if necessary for the treatment of signs of endometritis: a wash of the uterine cavity, twice a day, with a heated Dekasan liquid, is practiced in an amount not exceeding 200 ml.

Disinfection of consumables and instruments in medicine is carried out by washing and soaking for 5 to 30 minutes.

Use Dekasana during pregnancy

At pregnancy and thoracal feeding the use of Dekasan is not forbidden, as the agent does not get through the outer integuments into the circulatory system.

Contraindications

The only contraindication to the use of Dekasan is the individual intolerance of the drug.

Side effects Dekasana

External antiseptic Dekasan can cause allergic phenomena, which manifest reddening of the skin, itchy rashes. Typically, such symptoms do not require any additional treatment and are completely eliminated after discontinuation of the use of the drug.

With intrabronchial administration of the drug, there may appear a transient burning sensation in the chest, which disappears without a trace for 30 minutes.

Overdose

Dekasan does not have the property of penetrating into the systemic circulation under superficial use, so the possibility of drug overdose is excluded.

Interactions with other drugs

Decassane can not be used simultaneously with detergents and agents, since they neutralize the properties of the drug.

Dekasan increases the harmful effects of antibiotics on the pathogenic microflora.

Storage conditions

The medication must be stored in a dark place, far from the children's access. The optimum temperature is from + 18 ° C to + 25 ° C.

Special instructions

 Important: Dexan is able to have a more pronounced effect if the solution is preheated to 37-38 ° C. 

Shelf life

Shelf life - up to 3 years under the conditions of storage of the solution in compliance with all recommendations.
