Indications Decosept

The drug is intended to maintain hygiene and surgical disinfection of the surface of the skin, in particular, the hands of surgeons and medical workers of medical and preventive institutions before performing operations, injections or punctures.

Release form

Decosept is a transparent bluish liquid with a subtle perfume aroma.

Antiseptic is presented:

  • active components isopropanol and n-propanol;
  • additional ingredients: benzahexonium chloride, purified water, softening components (lanolin, lecithin), emulsifying and flavoring agents.

The drug is available in polyethylene containers with a capacity of 0.5 and 5 liters.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug is known for its ability to have a detrimental effect on bacterial cells, viruses, fungi, as well as the tuberculosis pathogen and microorganisms resistant to antibiotics. Dekosept deactivates the human immunodeficiency virus, the hepatitis B and C pathogen, the herpes virus, influenza, adenovirus, papovavirus, etc.

Decosept has the following beneficial properties:

  • reduces the number of transient microflora of the skin by almost 99% in half a minute;
  • destroys, among other things, resident microorganisms on the skin;
  • acts quickly, maintaining the effect for 60 minutes on exposed skin, or for 180 minutes under latex;
  • does not affect the processes of skin respiration, prevents moisture accumulation under latex, does not cause irritation;
  • does not have a negative impact on the processes of water-fat metabolism in the skin;
  • The ingredients lanolin and lecithin, which are part of the preparation, allow the product to be applied to the skin quite often (up to 40 times a day), regardless of the degree of skin sensitivity.

Pharmacokinetics

The medicine is able to penetrate into the deep layers of the skin. In half a minute the liquid kills 100% of transient microorganisms, and within 3 or 5 minutes the resident flora is also destroyed. Within three hours there are no microbes on the surface of the hands at all.

The speed of action is explained by the presence of alcohols and benzahexonium chloride in the preparation, which ensures the prolonged action of the solution.

Alcohols have the ability to penetrate cell membranes, coagulating proteins and deactivating enzymes.

Benzalkonium chloride is absorbed into cells, worsening the permeability of the membrane wall. The presence of lanolin and lecithin components provides comfort to the skin.

Dosing and administration

The drug is used in a ready-made form for disinfecting the surface of the hands of surgical specialists, as well as areas of the skin of patients immediately before injections and infusions, or for household needs:

  • for treating objects and skin surfaces when caring for sick household members and the elderly;
  • on trains, on vacation, on the road;
  • when communicating with animals, etc.

Disinfection of hands is carried out in the following way: the required amount of the medicine is poured into the palms and vigorously distributed over the entire surface of the hands, trying to penetrate into the skin folds and under the nails. The treatment is carried out for half a minute.

For preventive purposes, in order to avoid the risk of contracting tuberculosis, hands must be treated 2 times in a row, for at least 1 minute.

If your hands are stained with purulent or other discharge, blood, etc., you should first carefully remove the contamination using a napkin (soaked in Dekosept), then disinfect your hands with a standard wash using the same antiseptic.

If your hands are excessively dirty, it is recommended to first wash them with running water and soap, and then treat them with Decosept.

When preparing for a surgical intervention or procedure, the doctor first washes his hands with a detergent, dries them with a napkin, then applies Dekosept to the dry surface of the hands and rubs it in thoroughly for 3 minutes. Latex gloves should only be put on dry skin.

Injection or puncture sites can be disinfected with a napkin or swab soaked in Decosept for a quarter of a minute.

If surgery is planned, it is recommended to disinfect the skin for 60 seconds.

If the patient's skin is excessively oily, then the treatment with the drug should be increased to 10 minutes.
