Pharmacodynamics

Decamethoxin is considered to be a fairly effective antiseptic, is an ammonium derivative. Creating concentrations on the cytoplasmic membrane of a bacterial cell, it binds to the phospholipids of the membrane and causes disturbances in its permeability.

Decamethoxin has significant antimicrobial activity against streptococci, staphylococci, diphtheria bacilli and pseudomonas, and exhibits activity against yeast, mold fungi, trichomonas, and lamblia.

Resistance to the drug develops slowly in bacteria. Concentrations of the drug sufficient to slow bacterial growth are approximately equal to concentrations that are lethal to bacteria, viruses and fungal infections.

Pharmacokinetics

Decamethoxin is used locally, externally, in the form of rubs, washes and lotions, therefore the degree of absorption of the drug into the systemic circulation is negligible.

Dosing and administration

Decamethoxin is used externally and intrabronchially (for bronchial pathology).

If you need to prepare a drug from a tablet, then proceed as follows: soften the tablet and dilute it in purified water, saline solution or alcohol.

For the treatment of pustular and fungal dermatological pathologies, a 0.5% solution of a water-based medical preparation is used. This product is used to wet wipes and wash the affected surfaces.

In case of fungal diseases, erythrasma or lichen lesions, apply napkins soaked in a 0.1% aqueous solution of the preparation.

In case of inflammation of the distal intestine and ulcerative lesions of the colon, a 0.01-0.03% water-based solution (not alcohol!) is used for enemas. The procedure is carried out twice a day, 60-100 ml, until the symptoms of the inflammatory process are eliminated.

In case of an inflammatory reaction in the oral cavity, a 0.025% water-based solution is used in an amount of about 100 ml for rinsing. In case of dystrophic processes against the background of periodontal inflammation in the acute period, irrigation of the affected areas of the gum with a 0.025% solution in an amount of 60 ml is used.

For the treatment of fungal infections of the oral cavity, with ulcerative-necrotic lesions of the gums, the drug is used for rinsing the oral cavity with a 0.01% aqueous solution up to 4 times a day. The duration of therapy is one week.

In acute purulent inflammation of the conjunctiva of the eye (mainly in the postoperative period), the solution (0.02% aqueous) should be dripped 5 drops into the conjunctival sac area, up to 6 times a day.

Patients with acute otitis should drip a 0.05% solution (alcohol, 70%) into the ear canal up to 4 times a day.

A 0.02% aqueous solution of Decamethoxin, prepared in saline solution, is used intrabronchially.

A 0.025% water-based solution is used to disinfect the surgical site and the hands of personnel.

To disinfect instruments and equipment, you can use an alcohol solution (70 or 96%).

The transplants are sterilized using a 0.025% solution.
