Dalacin C belongs to the lincosamide group of antimicrobial drugs. The main active ingredient of the drug is clindamycin, which destroys some types of bacteria and is also resistant to the action of gastric juice.

Dalacin C requires regular monitoring of liver and kidney function when used for a long time. The dosage of the drug is selected with caution if the patient has had gastrointestinal diseases in the past (especially inflammation of the intestinal mucosa).

Dalacin C can provoke intestinal inflammation both during treatment and several weeks after the end of the course of treatment (especially in the elderly and in debilitated patients).

Indications Dalacin C

Dalacin C is prescribed for infectious and inflammatory processes of the ENT organs (pharyngitis, laryngitis, otitis, scarlet fever, etc.), respiratory organs (pneumonia, bronchitis, purulent pneumonia, etc.), infections of the skin and soft tissues (inflammation of the hair follicles, purulent wounds, erysipelas, etc.), infectious diseases of the bones or joints (osteomyelitis, septic arthritis), infections of the female genital organs (inflammation of the uterine mucosa, pus in the fallopian tubes, inflammation of the ovaries, etc.), infections of the abdominal cavity (purulent inflammation of the abdominal organs), infections of the oral cavity.

The medication is also prescribed for preventive purposes as part of complex therapy after intestinal perforation.

Pharmacokinetics

After intramuscular administration of Dalacin C, the maximum concentration of the drug is observed in the blood plasma after approximately two hours; after intravenous administration, after 15-20 minutes.

After taking the medication in capsule or syrup form, almost complete absorption in the gastrointestinal tract is observed. In adult patients, after taking capsules, the maximum concentration of clindamycin is observed in the blood serum approximately 40 minutes later.

After taking Dalacin C children's syrup, the maximum concentration of the active substance in the blood serum is observed after one hour.

The drug binds to proteins by 45-90%. The drug does not accumulate in the body.

Clindamycin penetrates well into many body fluids and tissues (except cerebrospinal fluid).

Dalacin C is 80% metabolized in the liver. The half-life is 2 to 4 hours. The drug is excreted mainly in feces (about 20% is excreted in urine).

Dosing and administration

Dalacin C is prescribed by a doctor, who also determines the most effective dosage of the drug, taking into account the patient's condition, concomitant diseases, sensitivity of pathogenic flora, etc.

Usually, adult patients receive injections (up to 2.7 g per day) for complicated or severe infectious inflammatory processes. In some cases, the dosage can be increased to 4.8 g.

For mild forms of the inflammatory process, the drug is prescribed up to 1.8 g per day.

It is not recommended to administer more than 600 mg of the drug intramuscularly at one time.

The drug is prescribed orally up to 450 mg every six hours. The course of treatment in each case is determined by the attending physician (usually 10 days on average).

For children, the drug is prescribed in the form of a flavored syrup. Up to 25 mg per kg of body weight is usually prescribed per day. The daily dose should be divided into several doses (3-4).

Children weighing less than 10 kg receive 1/2 teaspoon three times a day. For children over 1 month, the drug is prescribed only in extreme cases (up to 40 mg / kg).

The solution prepared for injection may be stored for no more than 24 hours. The rate of intravenous administration should be from 10 to 60 minutes.
