Planning a pregnancy is an important aspect of a modern family and society as a whole, because the birth of a child is a serious and responsible event, and one must be prepared for it both morally and financially. Every year in our country the number of abortions increases, especially among women who have never given birth before. This is a very dangerous trend that can lead to a rapid increase in cases of secondary infertility after artificial terminations of pregnancy.
One of the newest contraceptive drugs, Dayla, is a combination drug that is effective in preventing unexpected pregnancy.
Indications Dayla
Dayla is an oral contraceptive. In addition to the contraceptive effect, the drug is actively used in gynecology for menstrual irregularities, painful PMS, acne in adolescence, and to suppress lactation when breastfeeding is stopped.
Release form
The drug is available in tablet form, each tablet is film-coated and contains 0.3 g of drospirenone and 0.002 g of ethinyl estradiol, as well as some excipients. The tablet has a diameter of about six mm, on one of the convex sides the inscription "G73" is highlighted.
Pharmacodynamics
The contraceptive effect of the drug is based on the effects of suppression of the ovulatory process and proliferation of the endometrium.
One of the active substances, drospirenone, is a progestogen and exhibits antimineralocorticoid and antiandrogenic properties. These characteristics are pharmacologically identical to those of natural progesterone.
Among the capabilities of the second component of the drug ethinyl estradiol, its property to reduce the risk of developing oncological diseases of the endometrium and ovaries can be highlighted. In addition, it produces a powerful anabolic effect, provokes inhibition of the activity of the pituitary system, prevents the formation of the coronary form of atherosclerosis.
Pharmacokinetics
When taken orally, the drug is immediately and almost completely absorbed. The maximum content of the active substance in the plasma reaches 38 ng / ml 1.5 hours after the first dose of the drug. With constant use, the maximum concentration reaches 60 ng / ml within 10 hours. The level of bioavailability can fluctuate between 60-80%. The amount of food consumed and its composition do not affect the absorption of the drug.
The duration of partial elimination of the drug is about 30 hours.
Metabolites are excreted from the body with feces and urine; the period of partial excretion of metabolites is about 40 hours. Metabolites of the substance ethinyl estradiol are excreted in approximately one day.
Insufficient liver and urinary system function prolongs the drug elimination period.
Dosing and administration
The drug is started on the first day of menstrual bleeding. It is taken every day at the same time, and can be washed down with the usual amount of water or tea. The sequence of administration should be indicated on the package. After 21 days from the start of administration, a week-long break should be taken, during which bleeding similar to menstruation is detected. On the seventh day of the break, the drug is resumed.
If you accidentally miss a dose, take the required tablet within the next 12 hours. Continue taking the remaining tablets at your usual time.
If more time than 12 hours has passed, the contraceptive effect of the drug may be impaired.
If there is no bleeding during the 7-day break, you should be examined for possible pregnancy.
If you feel like vomiting within 4 hours of taking the pill, you should take another pill as soon as possible to replace the previous one.
Use Dayla during pregnancy
The use of the drug Dayla during pregnancy is inappropriate and contraindicated.
If pregnancy is detected while using the drug, its use should be stopped immediately.
There is no reliable data on the effect of the contraceptive on the formation and growth of the embryo, as well as on the course of pregnancy itself. The known facts of the drug's use during pregnancy do not allow specialists to draw any conclusions regarding the safety of its use.
All these conclusions, as well as the lack of appropriateness of taking the drug during pregnancy, rule out the possibility of using the contraceptive by pregnant women.
