Citeal has a local antiseptic effect (mostly bactericidal).

Indications Citeala

It is used to eliminate or prevent the development of diseases caused by the activity of bacteria that are sensitive to the drug. It is used for certain pathologies, taking into account the concentration of the drug.

A solution with a 0.05%, 0.1% and 0.2% concentration is used to prevent possible infections that occur after surgical procedures. It can also be prescribed for dental procedures - dentures are treated with it. In addition, the drug is prescribed for the treatment of periodontitis and stomatitis, and also for rinsing the gums.

The drug is used for treating the epidermis in urology (if it is necessary to penetrate the urethra), and also by gynecologists and surgeons - before the operation procedure to avoid possible infection. In gynecological diseases, it is prescribed for disinfection of the epidermis with mucous membranes before performing certain manipulations. The scheme of drug use is determined by the type of procedure.

In addition, in gynecology, the medication is used to treat thrush - douching with a solution is carried out according to a certain scheme.

Citeal is prescribed for the treatment of various dermatological pathologies of fungal or bacterial origin. In addition, it is used for application to purulent wounds and diseases in the mucous membranes that have appeared due to the influence of microbes sensitive to the action of the active component of the drug.

The medication is also prescribed for the treatment of damaged areas of the epidermis and wounds to prevent infection.

Citeal is prescribed to prevent the development of STDs, including chlamydia and genital herpes, syphilis, and trichomoniasis and gonorrhea.

A substance with a 0.5% concentration is used to get rid of damage that occurs on the epidermis or mucous membranes, and at the same time to disinfect various medical devices (while the temperature of the liquid is 70 o C).

A 1% preparation is prescribed to prevent the development of infection in places where there are wounds or burns, and to disinfect the area of the operation. Another method of use is to disinfect various devices with instruments that cannot be subjected to heat treatment.

Solutions with a 5% or 20% concentration are used to make medicinal solutions, the main element of which are substances such as glycerin with alcohol or plain water.

Release form

The drug is produced in the form of a medicinal solution of varying concentrations in polymer bottles with a nozzle, and also in glass bottles with a capacity of 0.1 l. There is 1 such bottle inside the box. The 20% solution is produced in bottles with a capacity of 0.1 or 0.5 l.

The medication is also available in the form of a gel (containing lidocaine), suppositories, ointment with cream, and spray.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug has a local disinfectant effect, is a 2-chlorine-containing derivative of the biguanide component. The mechanism of action occurs by changing the characteristics of the bacterial cell walls. Cations formed by separating chlorhexidine salts actively connect with microbial membranes that have a negative charge. The activity of the drug helps to destroy the cytoplasmic microbial wall - the destruction of its balance contributes to the final death of the microbe.

The drug exhibits significant activity against many bacterial strains. Among them are Bacteroides fragilis with gonococci, as well as vaginal trichomonas with gardnerella vaginalis and pale treponema with chlamydia. The substance affects ureaplasma and moderately affects individual strains of pseudomonads with proteus.

Resistance to drugs is demonstrated by fungal spores along with viruses (excluding herpes).

Citeal has a long-lasting antibacterial effect when applied to hands and skin surfaces.

The drug retains its antimicrobial properties in the presence of blood with pus and other fluids, although its effectiveness in these cases is weakened.

Dosing and administration

Alcohol or aqueous chlorhexidine agents are prescribed to eliminate local infections.

To prevent possible occurrence of sexually transmitted diseases, the drug should be used in a 0.05% therapeutic concentration within 120 minutes after unprotected intercourse. In this situation, a man is recommended to inject 2-3 ml of the substance into the urethra, and a woman 1-2 ml there, plus another 5-10 ml into the vaginal area (as in the procedure of gynecological douching). It is also recommended to treat the epidermis near the genitals with the drug. It is necessary to refrain from urinating for at least 2 hours after the drug is administered, because otherwise its effectiveness will decrease.

As a preventative measure in such cases, you can use the medicine in the form of suppositories.

Regarding douching for the treatment of thrush and other diseases of gynecological origin, as well as the method of performing this procedure, it is necessary to consult a gynecologist in advance. When douching, a 0.05% solution is required, which does not require additional dilution. Before the douching session, it is necessary to lie horizontally, insert a small amount of medicine from the bottle into the vagina, and lie down for several minutes. This is required as a test for allergies in the patient. If this procedure causes negative symptoms, douching should be abandoned.

In case of inflammation in the area of the urethra, 2-3 ml of a 0.05% substance is injected into the urethra (1-2 times a day). This course is carried out for 10 days. This method is suitable for both women and men.

When treating wound areas and burns with other damage to the epidermis, a 0.05%, 0.02% or 0.5% substance is used - applications or irrigations are carried out. The duration of the application is 1-3 minutes. In addition, you can use the Citeala spray.

If it is necessary to disinfect a skin area before surgery, a 20% solution is used, previously diluted with 70% ethanol (here the ratio is 1:40). The area to be prepared should be treated twice, with an interval of 120 seconds.

The drug is also used to treat certain ENT diseases (tonsillitis with sore throat and pharyngitis). To treat sore throat, gargle with a 0.2% or 0.5% solution.

Before rinsing with Citeal, it is necessary to rinse your mouth thoroughly with warm water. After that, you need to take a tablespoon of the substance (10-15 ml) and gargle your throat for about half a minute. These actions can be repeated one more time. After the procedure, it is recommended not to drink or eat for 60 minutes. More detailed instructions regarding rinsing and the frequency of the procedure are determined by the attending physician, taking into account the patient's symptoms. In addition, you should contact a doctor if negative reactions to the drug occur.

A burning sensation during rinsing often indicates that the concentration of the preparation is too strong. The maximum permissible concentration is 0.5%.

Rinsing the mouth after the tooth extraction procedure can be done three times a day – for 60 seconds each.

The medicinal solution must not be swallowed. If the drug is accidentally swallowed, activated carbon should be taken (1 tablet per 10 kg).

It is prohibited to independently carry out nasal lavage procedures for the treatment of sinusitis, since the drug taken into the nose can penetrate into the inner ear cavity or onto the meninges, which is fraught with the appearance of serious consequences.

Overdose

There have been no reports of intoxication from the use of the drug. If some of the solution was taken orally, a gastric lavage procedure should be performed, an enterosorbent should be taken, and the remaining symptoms should be eliminated.

Interactions with other drugs

At a pH level exceeding the digital value of 8, sedimentation is recorded. If hard water is used in the process of manufacturing the drug, its bactericidal properties are reduced.

Citeal cannot be combined with anionic elements (for example, with soap), and also with carbonates and chlorides, as well as with borates or sulfates, as well as with citrates or phosphates.

The effect of the drug increases the sensitivity of bacteria to the action of such components as chloramphenicol with neomycin and cephalosporin with kanamycin.
