Cyclomed has anticholinergic and mydriatic effects. The medication is an m-cholinergic blocker, it blocks the activity of m-cholinergic receptors.

The use of a medication leads to an increase in the size of the eye pupil - this occurs in connection with the contraction of the muscle that dilates the pupil, and in addition, with the relaxation of the antagonist muscle. At the same time, the ciliary muscle relaxes, which provokes the development of accommodative paresis.[1]

Indications Cyclomed

It is used during the ophthalmoscopy procedure, as well as during refractive examination.

It can be prescribed before cataract surgery - to increase the size of the pupil.

It is used in the combined treatment of inflammatory lesions of the anterior region of the eye ( episcleritis with iridocyclitis, uveitis and scleritis with keratitis).

Release form

The release of a therapeutic substance is made in the form of 1% eye drops - inside dropper bottles with a volume of 5 ml. There is 1 such bottle inside the box.

Pharmacodynamics

Pupil dilation occurs 15-25 minutes after instillation; the effect lasts for 7-11 hours from the moment of application (sometimes even longer). Residual symptoms may also persist for up to 24 hours.

The drug has a weak antispasmodic effect, and in addition, it increases the IOP and reduces the tone of the vagus nerve, as a result of which the heart rate increases (the pressure increases slightly). In addition, there may be a deterioration in the excretory function of the salivary, gastric and bronchial glands, as well as the pancreas.

Cyclomed overcomes the BBB, when using standard portions, stimulates the activity of the brain, and also has a stimulating effect on the respiratory center.

Dosing and administration

Drops are intended for local use - they must be instilled into the eyes, 1-2 drops in the area behind the eyelid.

To diagnose lesions in the fundus, it is required to drop 1-3 drops of the medicine - 1 drop at 10-minute intervals.

To perform a refractory study in a child, it is necessary to instill 2 drops of the substance at 15-17 minute intervals, no more than 3 times a day.

In case of eye inflammation, you need to drip 1 drop of Cyclomed 3 times a day.

  • Application for children

The medication is not prescribed for children under 3 years of age.

Use Cyclomed during pregnancy

It is allowed to use the medicine during pregnancy and hepatitis B only with the appointment of the attending doctor.
