Cyclodinone is a medication used to treat certain gynecological disorders. It is a herbal therapeutic agent that is prescribed for disorders of the menstrual cycle, PMS, and besides this mastodynia.
Medicinal elements, which are contained in the composition of the specified drug, have a stabilizing effect on the indicators of gonadosteroids. After the stabilization of these indicators, the normalization of the 2nd stage of the menstrual cycle occurs.[1]
Indications Cyclodinone
It is used for disorders of the menstrual cycle and mastodynia (pain and swelling in the area of the mammary glands), against which mastalgia often occurs . In addition, it is prescribed for PMS (among the symptoms are headaches or migraines, psychological instability and constipation).
Release form
The release of the medication is made in the form of ingested drops, inside glass bottles with a volume of 50 or 100 ml. The bottle has a special drop dispenser. Inside the pack - 1 such bottle.
Pharmacodynamics
The dopaminergic effect of the drug leads to a decrease in prolactin production - it eliminates hyperprolactinemia. With an increased level of prolactin, a violation of the release of gonadotropins occurs, which can cause disorders during the process of follicle maturation and ovulation, and in addition, in the phase of the corpus luteum. As a result, an imbalance in the progesterone / estradiol ratio develops, which causes menstrual irregularities and mastodynia.
In addition, prolactin has a direct stimulating effect on the proliferative processes occurring inside the mammary glands, which potentiates the formation of connective tissues, and also expands the milk passages. [2]
A decrease in prolactin levels contributes to the reverse development of disease-causing processes inside the mammary glands and leads to the elimination of pain. [3]
Dosing and administration
The medicine is consumed in a portion of 40 drops, 1 time per day (it is recommended to dilute it in plain water).
To obtain the optimal therapeutic effect, the treatment cycle is continued for 3 months without interruption. Even after improvement of the condition, therapy should be continued for several more weeks.

Due to the limited experience of using Cyclodinone in pediatrics, it is not prescribed to persons under the age of 18.
Use Cyclodinone during pregnancy
Due to the lack of information regarding the reproductive toxicity of the drug, it is not prescribed for pregnant women.
There is no information as to whether the drug and its metabolic elements are excreted in breast milk, which makes it impossible to exclude the risk to nursing infants. Testing information shows that vitex vulgaris has an effect on lactation. In this regard, the drug is not used for hepatitis B.
Contraindications

Interactions with other drugs
Interaction with estrogens and antiestrogens, as well as dopamine antagonists and agonists, may be noted - due to the existing likelihood of the development of estrogenic and dopaminergic effects of Vitex vulgaris.
Storage conditions
Cyclodinone should be kept out of the reach of children and sunlight. Temperature values - no more than 25 ° C.
Shelf life
Cyclodinone can be used within a 4-year term from the date of manufacture of the medicinal substance. The shelf life of an opened bottle is 0.5 years.
