Indications Chondroitin ointment
It is used to treat diseases of a degenerative nature that affect the spine and joints (including osteochondrosis with osteoporosis, as well as arthrosis).
Pharmacodynamics
The medicine contains chondroitin sulfate, which is obtained from cartilage tissue taken from the trachea of cattle.
The ointment helps stabilize the metabolism of phosphorus with calcium inside cartilaginous tissues, reduces bone tissue resorption and promotes their healing, and also reduces the volume of lost calcium. In addition, it helps restore joint function, slows down the degeneration of cartilage tissues and stabilizes the production of fluid inside the joints.
In people with diseases in the joint area, the drug reduces the intensity of pain, reduces the severity of inflammation, improves the motor activity of the joints and relieves them from stiffness in the morning.
Dosing and administration
The medicine is used for external treatment. Before use, the epidermis should be treated with a small amount of ointment to identify the possibility of an allergy to the drug.
Before performing the procedure, you need to wash your hands and clean the area that needs to be treated with the medicine. It is forbidden to lubricate the ointment on areas where the integrity of the epidermis is compromised. It is also necessary to prevent the medicine from getting on the mucous membranes or in the eyes. After completing the treatment, you need to wash your hands again. The ointment is applied in a thin layer and rubbed thoroughly into the skin.
The duration of treatment, as well as the portion sizes, are selected by the attending physician. For an adult, it is often prescribed to apply 1-3 cm of the medicine at intervals of 8-12 hours.
Taking into account the severity of the disease and concomitant therapeutic measures, the duration of the treatment cycle can be 14-21 days. According to medical indications, a repeat course may be prescribed after some time.
Use Chondroitin ointment during pregnancy
The drug should be used with great caution in lactating and pregnant women.
Contraindications
It is prohibited to use the medicine if you have hypersensitivity to chondroitin sulfate.
It is also contraindicated for people who have acute inflammation in the area where the medication is being applied.
Caution is required when used in individuals with dermatological pathologies (also of allergic origin) and thrombophlebitis.
Side effects Chondroitin ointment
Often the ointment is tolerated by patients without complications. Only in isolated cases, when using the drug, angioedema was observed, and in addition, allergy symptoms on the skin. Such manifestations were often observed in people with hypersensitivity to the active ingredient of the drug and its 2 auxiliary components.
If side effects occur, wash off the ointment and consult your doctor to prescribe an alternative drug.
