Cefekon has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties.
Indications Cefecon
Cefekon N is used as a pain reliever for pain sensations of varying intensity that develop against the background of the following disorders:
- toothache, and in addition neuralgia and sciatica with lumbago;
- headaches and migraine attacks;
- pathologies of a degenerative-dystrophic nature and affecting the function of the musculoskeletal system (such as osteochondrosis, Bechterew's disease or osteoarthritis);
- myalgia;
- algomenorrhea of a primary nature.
As an antipyretic, it is prescribed for the treatment of fever that occurs in diseases of inflammatory, infectious or catarrhal etiology.
Cefekon D is used for children:
- as an antipyretic for acute respiratory viral infections with influenza, complications after vaccination, childhood infections and other conditions that cause an increase in temperature;
- as an analgesic for pain of various origins (myalgia with neuralgia, pain caused by burns or injuries, as well as toothaches or headaches).
Release form
The product is produced in the form of rectal suppositories, 5 pieces inside a blister pack. The box contains 2 such blisters.
Pharmacodynamics
Cefekon N is a complex drug from the category of drugs that have an analgesic and antipyretic effect. The substances naproxen with salicylamide have an anti-inflammatory effect and are non-steroidal. Caffeine stabilizes and potentiates the excitatory processes carried out inside the cerebral cortex.
The medicine helps metabolic processes within various organs and tissues (for example, in muscles, as well as the central nervous system).
The children's analogue of the drug (Tsefekon D) stimulates the blockade of the COX element inside the central nervous system, thereby affecting the thermoregulatory system and pain centers. Inside the inflamed area, the effect of paracetamol on COX is neutralized by cellular peroxidase, due to which its anti-inflammatory effect is significantly weakened.
The medication does not have a negative effect on the gastrointestinal mucosa and water-salt balance, due to which sodium and water are not retained in the body.
Pharmacokinetics
Cefekon D is intensively absorbed through the intestinal mucosa. Its peak values in the blood are recorded 10-60 minutes after the suppository is administered.
The drug easily passes through the BBB. It has pronounced bioavailability indicators, and its distribution occurs mainly within liquids. Protein synthesis is quite weak - less than 10%. The substance is metabolized within the liver.
Excretion occurs through the kidneys – inactive breakdown products of the substance (glucuronides with sulfates) are excreted.
Dosing and administration
The use of Cefekon N suppositories is permitted only after bowel movement or a cleansing enema.
1 suppository of the drug is administered 1-3 times a day. After the drug is administered into the rectum, the patient should lie in bed for about 40 minutes.
If suppositories are used as an analgesic, the course should last a maximum of 5 days, and if they are used as an antipyretic, a maximum of 3 days.
Use of Cefekon D.
Suppositories should be administered rectally. The procedure should be performed after a cleansing enema. The drug is administered 2-3 times a day. A single dose of the drug should average up to 15 mg/kg, and the maximum permissible daily dosage is 60 mg.
Infants aged 1-3 months require 1 suppository (contains 0.05 g paracetamol) once a day. Other dosage sizes:
- for a child aged 3-12 months (weighing 6-10 kg), 1-2 suppositories of 0.1 g are administered;
- for children aged 1-3 years (weight 10-15 kg) – 1-2 suppositories of 0.1 g;
- age group 3-10 years (weight indicators – 16-32 kg) – introduction of 1 suppository with a volume of 0.25 g;
- A child aged 10-12 years (weight 33-36 kg) requires the administration of 2 suppositories with a volume of 0.25 g.
The medication is prohibited to be used for a long time. To reduce high temperature, it is used for no more than 3 days, and to eliminate pain - a maximum of 5 days.

Overdose
Poisoning with Cefekon N can provoke or increase the severity of negative manifestations: tachycardia, dizziness, bronchial spasms, cardiac insufficiency, itching and pain inside the rectum, and increase the level of blood pressure. In addition, hyperthermia, arrhythmia, tremor, diarrhea and tinnitus can develop. Along with this, a feeling of anxiety, irritability, agitation, confusion, disorientation or drowsiness sometimes appears. Also, seizures, bleeding inside the gastrointestinal tract, headaches and dehydration appear, the process of urination becomes more frequent, tactile hypersensitivity and delirium develop.
If such symptoms appear, it is necessary to stop using the drug and perform symptomatic measures to support the work of the heart and reduce blood pressure.
There may also be discomfort or itching inside the rectum – in these cases, an enema with sunflower oil is recommended.
Interactions with other drugs
Combinations with Cefekon N.
When combined with the drug, a decrease in the antihypertensive effect of ACE inhibitors and β-blockers is noted.
Combination with sulfonylurea derivatives (including anticoagulants or antidiabetic drugs for oral administration) leads to potentiation of their medicinal properties.
Combination with Cefekon D.
Combination with salicylates significantly increases the likelihood of a nephrotoxic effect.
Use together with paracetamol potentiates the toxic properties of chloramphenicol, weakens the medicinal effectiveness of drugs that slow down the binding and accelerate the excretion of uric acid, and also enhances the effect of indirect anticoagulants.
Storage conditions
Cefekon must be kept at temperatures not exceeding 25°C.
Shelf life
Cefekon N is allowed to be used within 24 months from the date of release of the drug. The children's form of the drug has a shelf life of 36 months.

Reviews
Cefekon N receives many good reviews from patients - it is reported to be effective in relieving pain and reducing high temperature. After 30 minutes, a significant improvement in the condition is noted, the pain disappears, and the fever is reduced. In addition to high medicinal effectiveness, the drug has a low cost, which is why it is used very often.
The high therapeutic effectiveness of Cefekon D suppositories is also noted. This medicine is especially popular because it can be used in children who often categorically do not want to take syrups or tablets of analgesics or antipyretics, or in cases where syrup causes vomiting in children. Therefore, suppositories with antipyretic action are considered the best option.
