Kameton is a medicine that affects the respiratory system and is used for diseases in the throat area. The drug is classified as an antiseptic.
Indications Cametona
It is used for local therapy in acute or chronic (mainly exacerbated) pathologies of inflammatory and infectious nature in the nose and throat area. Among them are pharyngitis and rhinitis, as well as laryngitis and tonsillitis.
Release form
It is released in the form of an aerosol, in 30 g cans.
Pharmacodynamics
Kameton has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and a weak local anesthetic effect. It helps to normalize the patient's respiratory function. The medicine has a vasoconstrictor effect, reduces swelling and blood filling at the site of the lesion.
The combination of the above-described medicinal properties helps to provide comprehensive treatment that eliminates inflammatory processes in the upper respiratory system.
The drug has no general toxic or ulcerogenic properties.
Pharmacokinetics
Kameton is used locally, so its medicinal concentrations are mainly observed at the site of inflammation. A small amount of camphor and chlorobutanol hydrate undergoes slow absorption into the circulatory system (they undergo reversible protein synthesis in the blood). During biotransformation, glucuronides are formed, which help remove drug elements from the body through the kidneys.
Dosing and administration
The aerosol is used locally, it is applied to the mucous membranes, as well as to the inflamed parts of the nasal cavity and throat.
Dosage sizes depending on the age of the patient:
- teenagers over 15 years of age or adults need to perform 2-3 irrigations of the throat, as well as 1-2 sprays into both nostrils;
- children aged 5-12 years – 1-2 irrigations of the throat, as well as 1 spray into both nostrils;
- For adolescents aged 12-15 years – 2 irrigations of the throat cavity and 1 spray into both nostrils.
The medicine is used 3-4 times a day.
The duration of the treatment is determined by the doctor, taking into account its intensity (usually lasts for 3-10 days). It is prohibited to use the aerosol for a period longer than 14 days.

Use Cametona during pregnancy
There is no information about the prohibition of using Kameton during lactation and pregnancy, but the use of the drug is permitted only with a doctor's prescription.
Contraindications
Contraindications include: hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, as well as children under 5 years of age.
Side effects Cametona
The aerosol is generally tolerated without complications, although side effects associated with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug may occasionally occur, such as a sore or burning sensation inside the throat, swelling at the site of irrigation, dry throat or nasal mucosa, swelling of the face or tongue, dyspnea, urticaria, as well as skin rash and itching.
If any negative reactions occur, you must immediately stop taking the medication and be sure to consult a doctor.
Overdose
In case of poisoning, allergic reactions may be observed, and side effects may be potentiated.
