Indications Calcium dobesylate
It is used in the following cases:
- in cases of vascular lesions against the background of increased permeability and fragility of capillaries (diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, as well as various forms of microangiopathy);
- in other microangiopathies arising from pathological metabolic processes and diseases in the cardiovascular system (such as steroid vasculitis and hormone-related bronchial asthma);
- in case of venous insufficiency, as well as complications of this disease (this includes pre-varicose conditions with symptoms of tissue edema, paresthesia, pain), and in addition to this, in case of congestive dermatoses, superficial forms of phlebitis, trophic ulcers and varicose veins on the legs.
Pharmacodynamics
The medicine has an antiplatelet effect and also protects veins and capillaries.
Reduces increased capillary and arteriole permeability, increases the elasticity of vessel walls and erythrocytes, and improves microcirculation processes, rheological parameters of blood and drainage properties of lymph vessels. At the same time, it reduces blood viscosity, slightly reduces platelet aggregation and potentiates the effect of platelets (also antioxidant).
The drug is able to reduce the activity of plasma kinins (such as bradykinin, etc.) and reduce tissue swelling, and in addition has antihemorrhagic properties.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is absorbed rather slowly inside the gastrointestinal tract. Only 20-25% is synthesized with protein inside the plasma. Peak values inside the body are noted after 5-6 hours. The drug almost does not pass through the BBB.
The half-life is 24 hours. Excretion occurs mainly through the kidneys within 24 hours.
Dosing and administration
The drug is taken orally, with or after food. The dosage is 250 mg (the size of 1 tablet) taken three times a day, or 0.5 g (the size of 2 tablets) taken 1-2 times a day. This regimen lasts 2-3 weeks, after which the dose is reduced to 0.5 g per day. This regimen continues for at least 3-4 weeks and a maximum of several months (the duration depends on the effectiveness of the drug). If necessary, repeated courses are allowed.
During the treatment of diabetic retinopathy, as well as microangiopathy, it is necessary to drink 1 tablet 2-3 times a day for 4-6 months. The exact duration of treatment depends on the course of the pathology and the effectiveness of the therapy used.
Use Calcium dobesylate during pregnancy
Calcium dobesilate is not prescribed to pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.
Side effects Calcium dobesylate
The drug is often very well tolerated. Occasionally, dyspepsia, headaches, allergic dermatitis, dizziness, vomiting, fever and nausea, as well as diarrhea and gastralgia, fever and increased liver transaminase activity may occur. If such symptoms develop, the dosage should be reduced or the drug should be discontinued.
Interactions with other drugs
Calcium dobesilate potentiates the properties of heparin with indirect anticoagulants, as well as GCS. It also enhances the antidiabetic effect of sulfonylurea derivatives. It is prohibited to combine the drug with lithium drugs, as well as methotrexate.
When used in combination with ticlopidine, it enhances its antiplatelet properties.
