Betagis stabilizes microcirculation processes in the inner ear.

Indications Betagisa

It is used to eliminate dizziness of various origins, and also to treat padalemixia.

Release form

The release occurs in tablets of 16 mg in blister strips, 10 pieces in each. In a box - 3 strips. Also, a blister can contain 18 tablets. There are 5 such packages in a pack.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug is an artificially derived histamine analogue. It has antagonistic properties with respect to histamine endings H1, as well as H3. In addition, it has weak activity with respect to H2 endings. By blocking the activity of H3 endings, as well as reducing their number, the drug potentiates the processes of histamine release and exchange. Along with this, microcirculation is activated inside the basilar arteries, and in addition, blood circulation processes in the inner ear are enhanced.

By inhibiting diamine oxidase, the substance helps block the processes of internal histamine breakdown, and in addition, it stimulates the effect on receptors in the inner ear. All this leads to the development of an effect on the precapillary sphincters, and also helps to accelerate and increase the volume of precapillary blood circulation inside the labyrinth with the cochlea. Stabilization of blood circulation inside the labyrinth also leads to normalization of endolymphatic pressure inside the structure of the inner ear. This helps to reduce the subjective feeling of dizziness. Along with this, betahistine potentiates the severity of blood circulation inside the brain structures.

The drug relieves paroxysmal symptoms of vertigo of vestibular nature, which have different origins, and also eliminates various cochlear disorders and ear noises or ringing, preventing deafness. Betahistine also has a powerful central effect. Blocking the H3 endings stabilizes the transmission carried out inside the nuclear synaptic neurons in the vestibular nerve area in the brain stem cell area, reducing the period of recovery of labyrinth activity after neurectomy.

Betagis is a histamine-type compound. It does not affect the strength of capillary walls, smooth muscle tone, secretion of gastric juice, or systemic blood pressure indicators.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug is quickly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract; this process is slowed down when food is consumed. The bioavailability index is 100%.

Betahistine undergoes almost all liver biotransformation, resulting in the formation of pyridylacetic acid. Peak values in urine and blood are noted 60 minutes after taking the tablet.

Excretion of the drug occurs through the kidneys and also (a small part) through the intestines.

Dosing and administration

The medicine should be taken after meals. For adults during the course of therapy, the daily dosage is 24-48 mg (three times a day, 0.5-1 tablet).

The duration of the course is selected by the doctor. It can last for a minimum of 21 days and a maximum of several months.

Reviews

Betagis affects the cause of dizziness - the drug increases the strength of blood circulation inside the basilar arteries, as well as the blood supply to the inner ear, which improves the functioning of the vestibular apparatus.

Patient reviews show that the drug not only eliminates dizziness, but also reduces tinnitus and improves hearing.

Some patients consider Betagis to be a very high-quality remedy with a small number of side effects, but the other part (mainly people with complications after a stroke or cerebral atherosclerosis) notes that the drug only makes them feel better, reducing the symptoms of the disease, and it must be taken constantly.
