Release form

It is released in gel form, in tubes of 15 or 30 g. The package contains 1 such tube.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug Azogel has a pronounced antimicrobial effect, which is due to the medicinal properties of nonanedioic acid, and in addition to this, a direct effect on the process of follicular hyperkeratosis.

The use of the gel allows to sharply reduce the density of colonies of acne propionibacteria, and in addition to this, to reduce the amount of fractions of fatty acids inside skin lipids, due to which the growth of cells is weakened, which leads to a decrease in the processes of blockage and keratinization of skin pores. The action of nonanedioic acid helps to suppress the processes of keratinocyte reproduction, and at the same time improves epidermal differentiation when acne occurs.

The medicine softens the skin, and in addition helps to quickly remove redness and prevent the development of a local irritating effect in the skin area.

Pharmacokinetics

The gel applied to the skin penetrates into all its layers. It is necessary to take into account that the medicine penetrates into the damaged skin faster. The level of systemic absorption is relatively low, equal to approximately 3.6% of the dosage used.

Metabolism takes place inside the liver – through β-oxidation of the active element to dicarboxylic acids, which have a shorter chain.

Excretion occurs with urine - part in the form of an unchanged component, and another part in the form of dicarboxylic acids.

Dosing and administration

Before treating the skin surface, you must first perform the appropriate hygiene procedures - rinse it with clean water (or use a gentle cleanser), then dry the area completely. Treat the affected areas with a thin layer, twice a day, gently rubbing the gel into the skin.

If severe irritation is observed, the frequency of procedures should be reduced to 1 time per day. If necessary, irritation can be eliminated by taking a break from using the drug for 2-3 days.

The duration of the course of therapy is determined individually, but under any conditions, treatment must be carried out for quite a long time - at least 1 month.

Use Azogel during pregnancy

During pregnancy.

Appropriate, adequately controlled studies have not been conducted on the use of topical nonanedioic acid preparations in pregnant women.

Animal tests have not shown any direct or indirect harmful effects on fetal development during pregnancy, or on parturition or postnatal development.

During pregnancy, Azogel should be used with great caution.

When breastfeeding.

The newborn should not be allowed to come into contact with skin or mammary glands that have been treated with the gel.

There is no information on whether azelaic acid passes into breast milk in vivo. However, an in vitro test performed using the equilibrium dialysis technique showed that the active element is able to penetrate into breast milk. Systemic absorption of nonanedioic acid (after local treatment) does not increase the endogenous effect of this component, comparable to normal physiological values.

However, lactating women should still use this medication with caution.

Contraindications

The main contraindication is hypersensitivity to the gel. In addition, it should not be prescribed to eliminate acne in children under 12 years of age, because there is no information on the effectiveness and safety of using the drug in this category of patients.

Side effects Azogel

The use of the gel sometimes leads to the appearance of such side effects: change in skin tone, swelling, rashes, itching, severe dryness and peeling. In addition, the development of erythema, paresthesia, folliculitis, skin irritation and hyperemia is also noted. Seborrhea, acne, cheilosis, contact dermatitis, hypochromia, and also exacerbation of bronchial asthma may occur.

Storage conditions

Azogel must be maintained at temperatures between 5-15°C.

Shelf life

Azogel can be used for 2 years from the date of release of the drug.
