Pharmacodynamics

Dimenhydrinate is referred to as histamine H1 receptor blockers (ethanolamine group). In addition to antihistamine effect, the preparations of this group characterize the rendering of antiemetic, sedative and M-cholinolytic action.

Dimenhydrinate has antiemetic effect, which is based on the suppression of vomiting centers. It increases M-holinotic action, when the tone of smooth muscles and peristalsis in the gastrointestinal tract decreases, the salivary glands and stomach weaken their secretion.

Pharmacokinetics

The use of dimenhydrinate orally promotes its rapid absorption. After half an hour after consumption, its concentration in the blood plasma reaches its maximum, it lasts for three to six hours.

Proteins of blood plasma form a bond with dimenhydrinate (98 - 99%). The liver biotransforms Aviomarin, then there is a complete removal of it from the body due to the kidneys throughout the day. Three and a half hours is the half-life of Aviomarin from the body.

Dosing and administration

• Prevention:

When Aviomarin is used for preventive purposes, it is consumed 30 minutes before the trip begins. Also for half an hour before anesthesia and if heavily tolerated by the body drugs are used.

Adults, children from fourteen years of prevention use 50-100 mg (one or two Aviomarine tablets) every four to six hours. Maximum per day you can take eight tablets (400 mg).

Children between the ages of five and fourteen years use 25-50 mg (half-one Aviomarine tablet) for prophylaxis every six to eight hours, if necessary, but not more than 150 mg per day.

For children aged two to five years, when prophylaxis, a dose of 25-50 mg (half-one Aviomarine tablet) is recommended after six to eight hours, but the maximum daily dose should not exceed 75 mg.

If necessary, the dose is repeated six to eight hours after the last use of Aviomarin.

• In the treatment:

For adults and adolescents (from fourteen years old), a dose of 50-100 mg is recommended for treatment every four hours, if necessary, the maximum daily dose should not exceed 400 mg.

For children aged five to fourteen years, a dose of 25-50 mg is recommended for treatment at intervals of six to eight hours, the maximum daily dose should not exceed 150 mg.

Use of the aviomarina during pregnancy

In the first trimester of pregnancy, Aviomarin is contraindicated. It is used very cautiously when the first trimester of pregnancy is already behind, and also during lactation. And still, Aviomarin is used only when there is an extreme need for it. In the birth period, dimenhydrinate in some cases leads to hyperstimulation of the uterus and a bradycardia that threatens the child.

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Aviomarin is the presence of:

• hypersensitivity to Aviomarin components (especially attention to dimenhydrinate);
• eclampsia, epilepsy;
• acute exudative and vesicular dermatoses;
• renal failure;
• the first trimester of pregnancy;
• children under the age of two.

Side effects of the aviomarina

Side effects of Aviomarin are:

• weakness;
• fatigue;
• drowsy condition;
• difficulty concentrating;
• anxiety;
• nausea;
• vomiting;
• diarrhea;
• constipation;
• sensation of dryness of the oral mucosa;

In rare cases, vision is impaired by Aviomarin (weakening of night vision and color perception, and in some cases recorded the appearance of hemolytic anemia, dizziness, lower blood pressure, insomnia, dysuria.

Overdose

When there was a significant overdose with Aviomarin, the following symptoms are observed: breathing slows down, there is the appearance of seizures, psychoses with hallucinations, delirium, drowsiness, dizziness, even to the point where a person can fall into a coma.

There is no specific antidote for Aviomarin. To remove the clinical manifestations of an overdose, usually wash the stomach, appoint enterosorbents, salt laxatives. 

Interactions with other drugs

If Aviomarin interacts with hypnotics, sedatives, tranquilizers, antidepressants, antipsychotic (antipsychotics), antiepileptic drugs and alcohol, then the suppressive effect of these drugs increases on the central nervous system of a person.

When Aviomarin is used, it is possible to strengthen the anticholinergic effect of other medications. Ototoxic agents (for example, aminoglygosides) in interaction with Aviomarin can hide the presence of its side effect.

When Aviomarin is used with bismuth, scopolamine, the same group includes painkillers and psychotropic drugs, the patient may be impaired by vision.

Aviomarin and ototoxic antibiotics are incompatible: it is better not to use it simultaneously with streptomycin, neomycin, kanamycin, amikacin. The fact is that the presence in it of the main active ingredient - dimenhydrinate - can mask auditory damage.  

Corticosteroids, anticoagulants, apomorphine weaken their effect in interaction with Aviomarin.

Storage conditions

The temperature at which Aviomarin is stored should be 15-25 ° C. The place should be protected from exposure to light rays and light in general, and also not accessible to children.
