Calamus root is a medicine that increases appetite.

Its bioactive components affect taste receptor endings, thereby increasing appetite and reflex secretion of gastric juice, and in addition, improving digestive function and potentiating hepatobiliary activity. At the same time, the drug increases the tone of the gallbladder and diuresis.

The drug has anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, disinfectant, tonic, choleretic, as well as expectorant and antibacterial properties.

It is used for non-specific digestive disorders (digestive disorders, bloating, loss of appetite, achylia, problems with gastric excretory function and intestinal colic ), as an integral part of combination treatment.

In addition, it is prescribed in cases of inflammation affecting the throat and oral cavity.

Release form

The medicinal product is produced in the form of rhizomes, inside packs of 30, 75 or 100 g. It is also produced in filter bags of 1.5 g - 20 pieces inside a box.

Dosing and administration

It is necessary to pour 1 tablespoon of the medicine into a container, which is then filled with boiled water (0.2 l), covered with a lid and infused for half an hour in a boiling water bath. The decoction must be kept to cool for 10 minutes, then filtered and squeezed out the remainder. The tincture is brought to a volume of 0.2 l with plain boiled water.

The tincture should be taken warm, 3-4 times a day, half an hour before meals. For teenagers and adults, the portion is ¼ cup. A child aged 12-14 years should take 2 tablespoons of tincture, and a child aged 7-12 years should take 1 tablespoon. The medicine should be shaken before use.

The finished tincture, diluted with water (two/three times), is used to rinse the throat and mouth.

Filter bags are used in groups of 3 – they are filled with boiling water (0.2 l), the container is covered and left for 15-20 minutes.

The tincture should be taken warm, 3-4 times a day, half an hour before meals. Teenagers from 14 years old and adults - 0.5 cup. The age subgroup of 12-14 years requires ¼ cup, and the subgroup of 7-12 years - 2 tablespoons.

The finished tincture is also used for gargling and rinsing the mouth.

The prepared decoction can be stored at a temperature of 8-15°C for up to 2 days.

The duration of the therapeutic cycle is selected by the doctor individually.

Calamus Root should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Contraindications
