The active substance of the drug is levocarnitine. Of the auxiliary substances are methyl- and propylparaben, sucrose, sorbitol, water and flavors.
The drug is produced by the Irish company Shanel Medical.
Pharmacodynamics
The active substance of the drug belongs to the natural analogues of the B vitamins. This substance is produced by the liver, kidneys and brain tissue with the help of amino acids in combination with iron and ascorbic acid. The serum contains it in its free form, or in the form of acylcarnitine esters.
The effect of the drug is based on the improvement of metabolic processes of fatty acids in cardiac tissues, liver, in muscle fibers. Thanks to the effect of levocarnitine from the cytoplasm, the residual metabolic products and toxic substances are excreted, the metabolism progresses, the functional capacity improves, the development accelerates, muscle mass increases and the total lipid count in adipocytes decreases, and the basic metabolic processes stabilize in thyrotoxicosis. Weaken the signs of mechanical and psychological overload, reduce ischemic events in the heart muscle, reduce the amount of cholesterol in the bloodstream, activate the immune system at the cellular level, and increase concentration.
The effect of Levocarnitine is also used to eliminate functional disorders of the central nervous system in a number of patients with a chronic form of alcohol dependence in the withdrawal syndrome.
During significant physical exertion and active sport, endurance increases, the muscular system becomes less sensitive to pain, the function of skeletal muscles becomes active.
Pharmacokinetics
When taken orally, the drug is perfectly absorbed from the digestive system into the bloodstream. The maximum amount of active drug is detected in the blood after 3 hours. The therapeutically necessary amount of Levocarnitine in the blood can be stored for a long time - up to 9 hours.
Metabolism of the drug occurs during the formation of chemical compounds of the acyl group. Excretion from the body occurs mainly through the urinary system. Duration of half-life with oral administration of the drug can be from 3 to 6 hours, depending on the dosage of the drug taken.
Dosing and administration
Dosage and possible duration of admission Agvantar is appointed by the doctor on an individual basis, taking into account age characteristics and a specific disease.
