Dosing and administration

The method of application and dosage of Adalat depend on the form of the drug. Adalat in capsule form is prescribed 1 capsule up to 3 times a day. If necessary, the dose is increased to 6 doses per day. When the patient suffers from hypertension, he should take no more than 3 capsules per day. If absolutely necessary, the dose is doubled.

To stop a hypertensive crisis, it is worth taking a capsule of the medicine at once. If necessary, the dose is repeated after 30 minutes. It is not recommended to make the interval shorter, as dangerous hypotensive conditions may develop.

During Raynaud's syndrome, take 1 capsule 3 times a day. If necessary, the dose can be safely doubled. It is advisable to swallow the capsules whole and wash them down with plenty of water. Food intake does not play any role in this case.

If there is a risk of developing an angina attack, the active substance is used. It is quickly absorbed through the oral mucosa. The empty capsule can also be swallowed. When a person feels better, he is prescribed rapid-retard tablets. They should be taken without chewing, the active substance will begin to be released when the capsule dissolves inside the body. At least 2 hours should pass between taking the capsules.

Rapid-retard tablets are another form of the drug. In this case, it is used to relieve tension and hypertension. It is advisable to take 1 tablet 2 times a day. If there is no improvement after two weeks of taking the drug, you will have to resort to another fast-acting form of the drug. The tablets should be swallowed and washed down with plenty of liquid.

Parenteral administration. During such use of the drug, it is necessary to monitor blood pressure and heart rate. 0.1-0.2 mg of nifedipine is administered at a time. If there is a pronounced stenosis of the coronary arteries, the dose is increased to 1 mg. The drug acts for 3-15 minutes. The drug is administered during invasive procedures. Use Adalata during pregnancy

The use of Adalat during pregnancy is questionable. It cannot be said that it contains an unfavorable substance. But despite this, the drug is one of the most powerful of its kind.

During the first trimester, the mother's body is exposed to negative external factors. The immune system weakens and thus allows various infections to penetrate inside. That is why taking strong medications during this period is prohibited. A weak body will not be able to accept them properly. Moreover, such exposure will cause irreparable harm to the baby.

Based on this, it is not recommended to take Adalat during pregnancy. Naturally, this issue is decided by the attending physician. Only he can decide what is allowed and what is prohibited. But in any case, during the first trimester of pregnancy, you should not take the drug.

Thus, Cimetidine significantly increases the level of nifedipine in the blood plasma. This contributes to the enhancement of the antihypertensive effect of the drug. When combined with beta-blockers, hypotension and heart failure may develop. Nifedin can significantly reduce the clearance of digoxin and increase its concentration in the blood. Therefore, the intake of these two drugs should be monitored. In many cases, a reduction in the dose of digoxin is required.

When canceling or, on the contrary, prescribing nifedipine, together with quinidine therapy, it is recommended to control the amount of the second drug. Dose adjustment is a forced measure in many cases.

The use of nifedipine together with rifampicin is strictly prohibited. Because the latter drug can accelerate metabolism and weaken the therapeutic effect. Diltiazem significantly reduces the clearance of nifedipine. These two drugs are taken simultaneously with extreme caution. In any case, Adalat should only be used with the permission of a doctor.
