Pharmacodynamics
The medicinal effect of the drug during acne treatment develops through antimicrobial activity, as well as direct influence on follicular hyperkeratosis.
A clinically significant reduction in the density of acne proteobacteria colonies is observed, as well as a noticeable decrease in the fraction of free-type fatty acids within epidermal lipids.
Nonanedioic acid in vitro and in vivo slows down the proliferation of keratinocytes and stabilizes the destruction of terminal epidermal differentiation processes during acne formation.
Experimental data demonstrate that nonanedioic acid has a retarding effect on the viability and growth of disease-causing melanocytes (this effect depends on the dose size and duration of therapy). The molecular mechanisms underlying this process have not been fully determined. The available information suggests that the primary effect of nonanedioic acid during melasma therapy is due to inhibition of DNA binding or inhibition of cellular respiration of disease-causing melanocytes.
Tests of the general tolerance of the drug with repeated external and internal use of nonanedioic acid did not reveal any symptoms of possible development of negative signs (even in the presence of extreme factors - for example, in the case of occlusion or treatment of a large area of the body).

Pharmacokinetics
After treatment with the cream, nonanedioic acid penetrates into all skin layers. A higher rate of penetration is observed when it hits the affected epidermis (compared to undamaged areas). With a single treatment of the epidermis with 1 g of nonanedioic acid (corresponding to 5 g of cream), 3.6% of the used portion is absorbed under the skin.
The portion of nonanedioic acid absorbed through the epidermis is excreted unchanged in the urine. The remainder of the substance is broken down by β-oxidation into short-chain dicarboxylic acids (C7, C5); their presence is also recorded in the urine.
Dosing and administration
Before using the cream, you need to wash the epidermis with water or use a cleansing cosmetic product. After that, the skin is dried, because the treatment must be carried out on dry epidermis.
The medicine should be applied twice a day (in the morning and then in the evening) to the affected areas, gently rubbing the cream in. About 1 g (corresponds to 4 cm of cream) of the substance is enough to treat the entire skin on the face.
It is extremely important to use the drug regularly throughout the entire treatment cycle.
The duration of the therapeutic course may vary depending on the individual course of the pathology and its severity. People with acne usually experience a noticeable improvement after 1 month of use. But to achieve the optimal effect, Acne-Derm must be used regularly for several months. There is data on the continuous use of nonanedioic acid for up to 12 months.
In case of melasma treatment, the cream should be used for at least 3 months. To achieve a more pronounced effect, the medication should be used continuously. During melasma therapy, in order to prevent the development of exacerbations caused by sun exposure or repigmentation of epidermal areas exposed to the sun, it is necessary to use sunscreens with a high degree of protection (UVA, as well as UVI).
If the irritation of the epidermis is too strong, it is necessary to temporarily reduce the frequency of use of the cream (to 1 application per day) until the irritation disappears, or stop treatment for several days.
Use Acne Derma during pregnancy
Adequate and appropriate tests regarding the use of topical nonanedioic acid in pregnant women have not been performed. Therefore, Acne-Derm should be administered with great caution during this period.
There is no information on whether the medication is excreted in breast milk. One in vitro experiment showed that the active element of the drug can penetrate into breast milk. The amount of nonanedioic acid that can potentially penetrate into the infant's body through breast milk is very small. However, it is still recommended to use the cream very carefully during breastfeeding.
Side effects Acne Derma
The use of the medication may cause the development of certain side effects:
- lesions of the epidermis and subcutaneous tissues: acne or seborrhea occasionally appears, and epidermal depigmentation also occurs. Cheilitis develops sporadically;
