Abamun is one of the most effective agents in the treatment of HIV infection.
Indications Abamoun
"Abamun" - a drug produced in India, is intended for the treatment of HIV infection in children and adults.
It's a pity, but there are no analogues among domestic drugs. Why "sorry" because this tool in our country is very difficult to obtain, in pharmacies, especially in small towns or villages, it rarely happens. You have to order in special large pharmacies (where, of course, take orders) or negotiate with a doctor, which is more effective.
"Abamun" is often called "Abakavir" because it is its international name. But when buying the drug, if you are offered "Abacavir", it should be clarified - which is exactly how this international name is inherent in other drugs, for example, "Abamat", "Trizivir", "Abakavir."
Release form
Yellow, capsule-like biconvex tablets "Abamun" smooth from all sides and covered with a film membrane. Each tablet contains an active substance - abacavir, which penetrates into the most "inaccessible places" of the body and fights the virus from the inside.
In one carton of "Abamun" - 30 tablets, which are sealed in a sealed plastic container for safe storage.
"Abamun" in its packaging contains a liner with a detailed description of indications and contraindications, doses and methods of application, side effects, conditions and shelf life.
Pharmacodynamics
"Abamun" from the category of antiviral agents, which are part of the nucleoside genus, which acts selectively on HIV-1 and HIV-2 (here, and HIV-1 strains resistant to Lamivudine, Zidovudine, Zalcitabine, Didanosine "," Nevirapine ").
"Abamun" breaks the RNA chain and stops the replication of the virus, inhibiting the opposite transcriptase. A possible increase in resistance is associated with genotypic changes in the specific codon (K65R, M184V, Y115F, L74V) reverse transcriptase zones. With regard to HIV resistance, it is progressing, in principle, slowly; Many changes (mutations) are required for the growth of the IC50 cluster by 8 times. If we talk about the growth of cross-resistance, then it is almost impossible. Raises the number in the blood of CD4 cells and reduces the accumulation of infectious RNA, including cerebrospinal fluid.
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption is high, bioavailability is 83%. Cmax - 3 μg / ml; the period of reaching Cmax is 1 - 1.5 hours (of course, after taking the Abamun medication).
Food inhibits the absorption of Abamun, and logically, decreases Cmax, but the AUC remains unchanged, that is, after 12 hours after using the drug.
Metabolism occurs in the liver with the help of alcohol dehydrogenase and the formation of glucuronide conjugates, more precisely: 5'-carboxylic acid and 5'-glucuronide. It is excreted through the kidneys as metabolites - 83%, 2% - in unchanged form, the remaining amount leaves through the intestine.
If we talk about the connection with proteins, then it is quite low.

Dosing and administration
"Abamun" has the instruction, but nevertheless, certain recommendations of the doctor concerning the course of treatment are not excluded. Naturally, the attending physician should have the skills to work with people with HIV or AIDS.
The medication is taken, not considering the diet, that is, it is not important before or after eating to use the drug.
The course of treatment requires that the whole tablet be ingested without chewing or chopping. It can be added to food (small amount) or into liquid and consumed immediately after dissolving the drug.
Let's move on to proportions: adults and children (up to 3 years old) weighing at least 30 kg receive Abamun at 600 mg per day. Treatment is carried out in two ways: either one tablet twice a day, or 2 - 1 times a day.

Use Abamoun during pregnancy
"Abamun" - failed enough tests to be sure about its properties on the fetus in the womb. The same goes for nursing mothers.
The doctor may prescribe Abamun in pregnancy if the expected benefit of treatment for the mother exceeds the possible risk to the fetus.
In addition, the unknown remains and its release into breast milk. If a nursing mother needs to take this medication, then the lactation process should be discontinued.
As a rule, other similar drugs are offered to pregnant and lactating mothers as treatment, but less dangerous for the health of the child.
Contraindications
"Abamun", like other drugs with the international name "Abakavir", have practically no contraindications, except for: hypersensitivity and childhood up to 3 years.
But, no matter how it was, Abamun was appointed as a doctor in accordance with the analysis, because, in addition to contraindications, there are side effects, the specificity of which depends on the individual tolerance of the drug, that is, the perception of the therapeutic action of the Abamun organism, which, in in turn, has serious consequences, which we will consider in more detail below.
Side effects Abamoun
So, taking "Abamun", the patient should know the list of possible reactions to the drug: allergy, drowsiness, fatigue, fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, arthralgia, myalgia, dyspnea, parasthesia, headache, conjunctivitis, lymphadenopathy, ulceration of mucosa of the oral cavity, increased activity of CKK, increased activity of "hepatic" transaminases, lactic acidosis, hypercreatininemia, fatty liver disease (usually in women), hepatomegaly.
"Abamun" does not eliminate the process of transmission of the virus - HIV through sexual contact or through the blood. Accordingly, the use of the drug is not a guarantee of safety during this period (intimate proximity or blood transfusion).
Overdose
In the process of clinical studies, Abamun, whose dose was increased to 1800 mg, showed no side effects. If we talk about higher doses, then the result of an overdose is not known. There is also no specific antidote. In case of an overdose, it is logical that the patient should be under the strict supervision of a doctor. But, again, there is no information about whether it is possible to withdraw the drug from the body with peritoneal or hemodialysis.
In any case, if there is any symptom listed in side effects, you should immediately contact your doctor.

Interactions with other drugs
"Abamun" as a result of the studies showed a determined reaction when interacting with other drugs:
- "Ethanol" - the metabolism of "Abamun" varies, the concentration area changes by approximately 41%. The action of "Abamun" does not affect the metabolism of "Ethanol"
- "Methadone" with simultaneous reception with "Abamun", the dose of which is 600 mg 2 times a day, reduces the maximum concentration of "Abamun" and the maximum time of achievement by 35%
- "Retinoids" and "Abamun" with simultaneous admission have not been investigated, respectively, their compatibility is unknown,
- "Ribavirin" has the same methods of phosphorylation, it follows the hypothesis that simultaneous administration can provoke a decrease in intracellular phosphorylated metabolites of "Ribarvania" as an opportunity for a stable virologic response to hepatitis C.
Storage conditions
"Abamun" does not require impossible storage conditions. Requirements for this issue are standard:
- dry, dark place,
- limited access for children,
- the air temperature should not exceed 30 ° C,
- Keep in a box with instructions.
Compliance with these rules prevents from such problems as loss of instructions to the drug, loss of therapeutic properties, and, of course, children's health.
"Abamun" at a high temperature or in bright light, can heat up, during which the necessary enzymes evaporate; at high humidity of air tablets can "damp".
Special instructions
Naturally, this drug in pharmacies is only released if a prescription is available. Despite the effectiveness of the treatment, this drug does not prevent the transmission of the HIV or AIDS virus through sexual transmission.
Thanks to such medications as "Abamun", which are suitable for adults and children, people with HIV or AIDS got hope for tomorrow. It has long been no secret that scientists invented drugs that can fight HIV infection, 25 of which were approved for use.
A sick immunodeficiency virus does not need to panic, but immediately solve the problem, until the infection begins to gain momentum. First of all, you need to choose a competent specialist who has the skills to work with people with HIV or AIDS, as well as positive feedback. Correctly selected treatment course, in which the complex includes the drug "Abamun", has already saved the life and health of many people.
Shelf life
In the situation of proper storage, the shelf life of Abamun is 2 years. Otherwise, "Abamun" loses its functionality, in the course of which its expiry date is reduced to an indefinite date. The release date is indicated on the package, which must be paid attention without fail.
"Abamun" after two years from the date of release is not suitable for use, because its active and additional substances lose their therapeutic relevance. The likelihood of poisoning or other side effects from taking an overdue medication was not fixed, that is, cases are unknown. But, this does not give a 100% guarantee of safe use.
