Cefosin has an antibacterial effect.
[1]
Indications Cefosin
It is used to treat infections with bacterial genesis and severe severity:
- pulmonary inflammation, meningitis;
- burns that are infected, as well as sepsis or peritonitis;
- infectious lesions in the abdominal area;
- disorders affecting the epidermis, bones and soft tissue;
- salmonellosis;
- arising in the field of upper respiratory tract infections;
- chlamydia.
May be prescribed to prevent infectious infections after performing urogynecological operations.

Release form
The release of the substance is realized in the form of a lyophilisate, in small bottles with a capacity of 0.5, 1 or 2 g.
Pharmacodynamics
Cefosin is a cephalosporin with bactericidal properties. The effect of the drug is developed by disrupting the binding processes of the cell membrane of the causative bacterium.
The drug has a large range of drug activity: streptococci with proteins, enterococci with staphylococci, klebsiela and chlamydia, and in addition to this escherichia, morganella and corynebacterium.
The drug shows resistance to β-lactamase, as well as microbial penicillinase.
Pharmacokinetics
After intravenous injection, plasma Cmax values are noted after 5 minutes, and after intramuscular injection, after half an hour.
Protein synthesis is about 30-40%. Therapeutic indicators are noted inside most of the fluids with tissues. Subject to metabolic processes; one of its metabolic products has medicinal activity.
The half-life of drugs after intravenous injection is 60 minutes; after intramuscular injection - 90 minutes. Excretion of most of the drug occurs through the kidneys.
Elderly people and people with chronic renal failure have an increased half-life of the drug. In premature infants, this period is 4.6 hours. The accumulation of the drug does not occur.
Dosing and administration
For intramuscular injections, 500 mg of the substance in injection water (2 ml) is required. As a solvent can be used 1% lidocaine solution in the same portion. It is necessary to inject the medicine into the buttock muscle.
For intravenous injection, it is required to dilute the drug in injection water (10 ml), then inject it into the vein at a slow speed for 5 minutes.
To perform an IV injection through an IV line, you need to dilute 2000 mg of the drug in an isotonic fluid or glucose solution (0.1 l).
Adolescents older than 12 years of age, and in addition, adults need to enter 1000 mg of the drug at 12-hour intervals. A portion can be increased in case of severe forms of diseases - up to 3-4 g per day (it should be applied in 3-4 injections, in 1 g). Per day is allowed to use no more than 12 g of the drug.
Newborns need to be administered daily for 50-100 mg / kg of Cefosin, with 6-12 hour intervals.
If the patient has impaired renal activity, the portion should be reduced. With the development of pseudomembranous form of colitis during therapy, it is necessary to cancel the use of drugs. In the case of a treatment cycle, whose duration is more than 10 days, it is required to monitor blood parameters. The drug is used cautiously in people who have a history of penicillin allergy.

Use Cefosin during pregnancy
In pregnancy, the drug can be used only in cases where the likely benefit to the woman is more expected than the possibility of complications in the fetus. Ceftriaxone is able to pass through the placenta.
It is forbidden to use Cefosin before childbirth in the 3rd trimester - due to the increased risk of bilirubin-type encephalopathy.
Small portions of medication are excreted in breast milk. Because of this, when using ceftriaxone, breastfeeding should be abandoned.
Contraindications
Among the contraindications:
- the presence of severe intolerance against the drug;
- renal failure in the chronic stage;
- ulcerative form of colitis, which is non-specific.

Side effects Cefosin
The use of a drug may cause a variety of adverse symptoms:
- itching and rash, and in addition, urticaria, bronchospasm, fever, Quincke edema;
- vomiting, constipation, bloating, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and liver dysfunction;
- headaches, pseudomembranous form of colitis and thrush;
- platelet, leuco-or neutropenia;
- local signs in the form of phlebitis or infiltrate at the injection site, as well as painful sensations along the vein.
[4],
Overdose
When intoxication appears tremor or convulsions, as well as encephalopathy develops.
Symptomatic measures are taken to eliminate the disorders.
Interactions with other drugs
Use together with diuretic drugs loop type, and in addition, aminoglycosides or polymyxin increases the risk of developing renal damage.
Cefosin increases the likelihood of bleeding when used with NSAIDs or antiplatelet agents.
Medications that block the activity of the secretion of tubules, increase the values of cefotaxime and significantly inhibit the excretion.
Combined use with ethyl alcohol does not cause disulfiram-like symptoms.
Does not possess pharmaceutical compatibility when mixing in one syringe with solutions of other antibiotics.
Storage conditions
Cefosin may be contained at temperatures up to 25 ° C. The finished medicinal fluid at a similar temperature can be maintained for a maximum of 12 hours; when stored in the refrigerator - a maximum of 5 days.
Shelf life
Cefosin can be used within 36 months of the production of a therapeutic drug.
Application for children
It is forbidden to appoint children younger than 2.5 years (the introduction of a / m injections). It is also necessary to use very carefully in newborns.
Analogs
Analogues of the medicament are Cetax, Talcef, and besides Cefotaxime and Cefabol with Cefantral.
Reviews
Cefosin belongs to the group of cephalosporins of the 3rd generation, which are considered antibiotics with a high level of efficiency - they cope with the elimination of a large number of different bacteria (gram-negative and positive).
There are also negative reviews regarding the drug, but they are most likely written by people who used it for those infections that are provoked by resistant bacteria. For any infections of bacterial origin, it is required to determine whether the pathogen is susceptible to the antibiotic. For this, a sample is necessarily performed (especially for people who have responded to the use of penicillins and cephalosporins).
Of the disadvantages, most patients emit severe pain injections, as well as the presence of negative symptoms (mainly signs of allergies and disorders in the gastrointestinal tract).
