Pharmacodynamics

The drug has a combined composition - it contains 2 medicinal elements.

Chlorhexidine has an antibacterial effect that is provided by the nonspecific synthesis with phospholipids of the walls of bacterial cells inside which chlorhexidine slows the action of ATPase and dehydrogenase, and besides it strengthens the strength of the membrane with respect to amino acids with nucleotides and potassium.

Also chlorhexidine in small concentrations (below 20 mg / l) has a bacteriostatic effect. The use of high concentrations leads to the development of a bactericidal effect. It affects mainly gram-positive microbes and candida albicans, and in addition, less intensively, on gram-negative bacteria.

The most effective substance demonstrates against streptococcus mutants, salivary streptococcus, Escherichia coli, Selenomonas, Candida albicans and anaerobes. A weaker effect is for the proteas, Klebsiella with pseudomonas and Streptococcus sanquis with Veillonella species.

Vitamin C reduces swelling and inflammation in the oral and nasopharyngeal mucosa, and at the same time enhances the immune response and acts as a cofactor during the processes of tissue healing and collagen binding.

Pharmacokinetics

Chlorhexidine is almost not absorbed through the epidermis and mucous membranes. In the process of resorption, the substance is gradually released, penetrating into the saliva and synthesizing with the oral and linguistic mucosa, and then again returning to the saliva, inside which its antibacterial effect is carried out.

When swallowing chlorhexidine together with saliva, its absorption inside the gastrointestinal tract is very weak. A small part of the substance is subjected to hepatic metabolism, and then excreted through the intestine along with bile. Often 90% of the element is excreted unchanged, along with feces.

The level of chlorhexidine within the body is measured by HPLC, which has a sensitivity of not more than 1 mg / l.

Vitamin C is well absorbed, penetrating into the digestive tract. With the intraplasma protein, it is synthesized by about 25%. After metabolic processes, the substance is transformed into dihydroascorbic, as well as oxalic acid. Excretion mainly occurs in the urine.

The medication is prescribed in a dose of 1 tablet 4 times per day (reception at intervals of 6 hours). The accepted tablet should be resorbed. The medicine is consumed after eating and dental cleaning. After the tablet has resolved, it is recommended to drink less liquid and do not rinse the oral cavity during the next 120 minutes.

On average, the treatment cycle lasts 5-7 days. Use the medicine for longer than 2 weeks is prohibited.

Use Septalor during pregnancy

Tests regarding the effects of chlorhexidine on the body of a pregnant woman have not been carried out.

In animal experiments, doses 300 times (in rats) and 40 times (in rabbits) were used to exceed the amounts that a person who took chlorhexidine could receive. In these cases, embryotoxic effects were not recorded. Before starting the use of medicines, consult your doctor.

Studies on the passage of chlorhexidine in breast milk have not been carried out, but vitamin C is able to penetrate into it. Therefore, breast-feeding mothers should consult their physician before using Septalor.

Contraindications

Contraindication is intolerance to chlorhexidine and additional elements of the drug.
