Akineton is an antiparkinsonian drug.
Indications Akineton
It is used for extrapyramidal disease, triggered by the use of antipsychotics (antipsychotics) against a background of trembling paralysis and parkinsonism.
Pharmacodynamics
The active ingredient is biperiden - holinoblokator with the central type of medicamentous influence.
The therapeutic effect develops by suppressing the activity of cholinergic neurons inside the structural element - the striatum of the brain. The drug has a ganglion-blocking effect, but in addition it has spasmolytic and moderate m-holinoblocking properties of the peripheral type.
Akineton has the ability to eliminate rigidity of muscles and catalepsy, triggered by the use of neuroleptics, and in addition to tremor of the extremities due to the use of cholinergic drugs (such as pilocarpine).
Medication can lead to the development of psychomotor agitation.
Dosing and administration
The drug solution is administered intravenously or intramuscularly, and the tablets are taken orally. Dosage sizes are selected separately for each patient.
For the treatment of extrapyramidal disease due to the use of antipsychotics (antipsychotics): the administration of / m or IV with the method of 2 mg of the drug. Enter this portion repeatedly after every 30 minutes, but no more than 4 times / day. Tablets should be consumed in the amount of 2 mg 1-3 times a day.
To treat tremor paralysis, 2 mg of the drug should be taken orally 2-4 times a day. This portion is gradually increased to 6-16 mg.
Use Akineton during pregnancy
Akineton with great caution can be used in pregnant women or lactating women.
Contraindications
Among the contraindications:
- hypersensitivity to the element biperiden;
- megakolon;
- glaucoma, having a closed-angle shape;
- hyperplasia of the prostate;
- presence of intestinal blockage.
Caution is required when used in persons suffering from epilepsy or arrhythmia, and in addition to the elderly.
Side effects Akineton
The use of the drug can provoke such side effects: the appearance of hallucinations, constipation, dryness of the oral mucosa, dyspeptic disorders and dizziness. In addition, paresis of accommodation, a feeling of quick fatigue, drowsiness, confusion, anxiety or weakness can occur. Catalepsy, delayed urination, decreased blood pressure and signs of allergy may also occur.
Interactions with other drugs
Akineton potentiates the effect of anticonvulsants, antihistamines and anti-Parkinsonics, as well as m-holinoblokatorami. In doing so, it reduces the therapeutic effect of metoclopramide.
Use with quinidine increases the likelihood of dyskinesia.
When combined with levodopa, the intensity of m-cholinergic action is potentiated.
The drug is not compatible with ethyl alcohol.
Storage conditions
Akineton is required to be kept in a place where access to small children is denied. Temperature values are not higher than 25 ° C.

Reviews
Akineton has a high effectiveness in the treatment of parkinsonism, eliminating tremor of the extremities in a short time interval. In addition, it is noted that it is well tolerated.
