Indications of the fenazide

It is used for combined treatment of patients with tuberculosis, which has different localization. Also helps with concomitant diseases affecting the liver and the central nervous system, and in addition, with poor tolerability of drugs such as GINK.

Release form

The release is carried out in tablets, in the amount of 50 pieces inside the jar or 10 pieces inside the blister pack. In a pack contains 1 jar or 5 blisters with tablets.

Pharmacodynamics

Fenazid has therapeutic activity against tuberculous mycobacteria. The basis of its medicinal effect is the modification of the isoniazidic molecule - by forming a compound with iron. As a result, the chemotherapy of tuberculosis begins, because the blocking of the chelate compound of the GINK molecule by means of iron occurs. As a result, it loses its ability to interact with the main centers of the metal-containing enzymes. In addition, due to the inclusion of the primary hydrazine amino group in the chelating process, interaction with the N-acetyltransferase element is prevented.

Because the medicine has a low level of toxicity, when used it does not need to change its single and rate portions, taking into account the speed of the ongoing acetylation processes.

The drug also has a prolonged drug effect.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption of the drug is slow, it takes 5-6 hours to reach the peak of the active ingredient. The half-life is 7.2 hours.

Dosing and administration

To clarify whether the patient has an individual hypersensitivity to drugs, on the first day of the course one should drink 1 tablet from the morning after eating. If no side symptoms have arisen, on the second day, as well as in the subsequent days, phenazid is taken in a dose of 0.25 g (1 tablet) 2 times / day, in the morning and in the evening, after 30-40 minutes after eating.

Continue this course can be up to six months.

Use of the fenazide during pregnancy

It is forbidden to prescribe phenazid to nursing and pregnant women.

Contraindications

Among the contraindications:

Interactions with other drugs

A combination with isoniazid is able to induce potentiation of toxic effects, which are often caused by means of the GINK type. In this regard, combining these drugs is prohibited.

Storage conditions

The phenazide is required to be kept in a dark place, where moisture does not reach, and also inaccessible to infiltration of small children. The temperature limits are 15-25 ° C.

Shelf life

Fenazid is allowed to be used during the 3 years since the release of the drug.
