Zitrox is an antimicrobial drug that represents a sub-category of azalides - from a group of macrolide antibiotics.
Indications of the sitrox
It is used in such situations:
- when there are infectious diseases inside ENT organs or lungs;
- with the development of infectious diseases inside the urogenital organs;
- for infections involving soft tissue with skin.
Release form
Release in tablets - a volume of 250 mg (within a separate strip of 6 such tablets) or 500 mg (within a strip - 3 tablets). The pack contains 1 strip with tablets.
Pharmacodynamics
The drug affects the activity of extra- and intracellular microbes. Among the bacteria for which the drug has an antimicrobial effect:
- aerobes of Gram-positive type (this includes those that produce b-lactamase): pneumococci with streptococcus agalactia, pyogenic streptococci, and Staphylococcus aureus, Str. Viridans and individual streptococci included in subclasses C, F, and G;
- aerobes from the Gram-negative subclass: paracoccus / pertussis sticks, campylobacter in the small intestine, gardnerelles, moraxelles, Ducrea's stick, influenza rod, H. Parainfluenzae, E. Coli, dysentery bacteria, legionellosis, salmonellosis or gonorrhea and yersiniosis, and meningococci ;
- anaerobes: clostridium perfringens, Bact. Bivius and peptostreptococci.
Sensitivity to the drug has germs-causative agents of syphilis, mycoplasmas with chlamydia, ureaplasma and Borrelia Burgdorfer.
The active component of the drug inhibits the process of protein formation in the ribosome region, which causes the cells of the microbes to die.
Pharmacokinetics
The active substance is quickly absorbed inside the digestive tract. At the same time, the maximum level of the drug is noted after approximately 2-3 hours.
Goes inside the leukocyte cells, accumulating there. Together with leukocytes penetrates into the affected area, which is why a high index of azithromycin is observed in the inflamed area.
The half-life of the component is about 34-68 hours. The process of metabolism is carried out inside the liver.
Excretion of the drug - most of it is excreted with bile, and a little more - with urine.
Dosing and administration
Tablets are drunk in breaks between meals (1 time per day). Do not chew the tablet. Dose sizes:
- treatment of ENT diseases: one-time intake per day 0.5 g of drugs. The course lasts 3 days;
- the initial stage of Lyme borreliosis: on the 1st day it is required to take 1 g of the drug, and then during the 2-5th days - 0.5 g per day. In general, the course lasts 5 days;
- urethritis of infectious origin: a one-time intake of the 1st g of medicine. The course lasts only 1 day.
For children, the size of a single dose is 10 mg / kg. The entire course lasts 3 days, and during this period in general you need to take 30 mg / kg of medication. There is also a scheme with a 5-day drug intake: on the first day - 10 mg / kg, and then in the interval 2-5 for - 5-10 mg / kg.
If one dose was missed, it is recommended to take the next one after it at least 24 hours later.
Use of the sitrox during pregnancy
Zitrox can not be given to pregnant women.
Contraindications
The main contraindications:
- the presence of hypersensitivity to the drug;
- lactation period;
- severe functional liver / kidney lesions;
- children under the age of 3 years.
Side effects of the sitrox
The drug is fairly well tolerated, it is considered safe for patients. Basically, side effects of the drug affect the system of the digestive tract - dyspeptic phenomena occur, and besides, occasionally, problems with stool, anorexia, intestinal flatulence and problems with liver function. Among other disorders:
- lesions of auditory organs: severe ear ringing and deterioration of hearing (treatable);
- cardiac function disorders: arrhythmia development and prolongation of QT values;
- disorders of the central nervous system: the appearance of headaches and fainting, sleep disorders or a feeling of drowsiness, as well as the development of asthenia;
- allergy symptoms: the appearance of TEN or Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and in addition hives or rashes;
- others: occasionally there is candidiasis or vaginitis, and in addition a decrease in the number of platelets.
Overdose
In case of drug intoxication, nausea may occur with vomiting, but also a temporary hearing disorder, as well as diarrhea.
To eliminate violations requires the intake of sorbents and symptomatic therapy.
Interactions with other drugs
Care is required when combined with drugs that extend the QT interval.
Antacids reduce the peak values of azithromycin (by 30%), so it is required to take these medications at intervals of 2 hours between doses.
Azithromycin affects the metabolic processes of cyclosporins, which increases the likelihood of negative reactions.
Warfarin with anticoagulants coumarin type when combined with Zitrox increase the risk of bleeding, and in addition increase the levels of PTV.
In combination with the drug, the half-life of digoxin is prolonged, and as a result, its drug activity and concentration index are further increased.
It is necessary to carefully combine terfenadine with azithromycin, because its metabolism can vary significantly.
Storage conditions
Zitrox should be stored in a place inaccessible to small children, and the temperature in the storage room should not exceed 25 ° C.
