Sebidine - a drug used to treat diseases of the bronchi and lungs. Consider the basic rules and features of using the drug.
Sebidine is part of the pharmacotherapeutic group of medicines used to treat colds. It has antibacterial, bactericidal and antiseptic properties. The local combined agent is effective in symptomatic therapy of lesions of the mucous membrane of the pharynx of infectious and inflammatory origin.
Indications of the sebidine
The drug contains active components that are effective for colds. Consider the main indications for the use of Sebidine:
- Infections of the mouth, throat and larynx.
- Inflammation of the gums.
- Periodontal disease.
- Periodontitis after surgical interventions.
- Parodontopathy.
- Aphthous stomatitis.
- Gingivitis.
- Chronic recurrent aphthae.
The drug is used in various forms and degrees of severity of the above diseases.
Release form
Medicinal form of release Sebidine - tablets for resorption. Capsules have a pink-orange color, a flat shape with bevelled edges. One package contains 20 tablets in contour cell packs.
Active substances of tablets: chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 5 mg, ascorbic acid 50 mg. Auxiliary components are: sucrose, magnesium stearate, methylcellulose, talc and fruit essence.
Sebidine plus. A popular remedy for catarrhal diseases is Sebidine Plus. This drug contains two active components - ascorbic acid 75 mg and chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 5 mg. Tablets have vitamin and antiseptic properties. Chlorhexidine has an antibacterial effect, and its low concentrations are a bacteriostatic effect. Ascorbic acid reduces swelling and inflammatory processes, strengthens the immune response and improves tissue regeneration.
- The drug is prescribed to treat the symptoms of inflammation of the mucous membrane of the throat and larynx.
- For patients over 12 years of age, one tablet is prescribed for resorption 3-4 times a day, that is, every 6 hours. The remedy is better to use after eating. The course of treatment should not exceed 14 days.
- Sebidine plus is contraindicated for patients under 12 years of age, with hypersensitivity to active components and for patients with phenylketonuria. Before using the tablets during pregnancy, you should consult your doctor.
During the taking of the medicine, temporary changes in taste sensations are possible. Long-term use of tablets may cause slight staining of teeth and tongue.
Pharmacodynamics
The active component of Sebidin destroys the bacterial cell membranes. Pharmacodynamics indicates the antioxidant properties of ascorbic acid, slowing down the aging of cells and stimulating immunity. Chlorhexidine acts on gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, promotes wound healing.
Pharmacokinetics
Since Sebidine is in the form of tablets for resorption, the active components do not penetrate the systemic circulation, but exert a local action. The pharmacokinetics of the active components indicate a weak absorption of chlorhexidine into the gastrointestinal tract from the mucous membranes. Ascorbic acid is rapidly absorbed and penetrates into all tissues of the body.
Dosing and administration
Depending on the severity of the pathological condition depends on the method of application and dose of Sebidine. Tablets are used for resorption. The recommended dosage is 1 tablet 3-4 times a day. The duration of therapy should not exceed 7 days. In especially severe cases, treatment can be extended up to 21 days.

Overdose
Since Sebidine is not practically absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract, an overdose of the drug is practically impossible. If this happens, then there are more pronounced adverse reactions. To resolve them, symptomatic therapy and a doctor's examination are indicated.
Interactions with other drugs
Very often, with lung and bronchial diseases, complex therapy is used. Interactions with other drugs should be carefully monitored. Thus, organic substances taken simultaneously with Sebidine reduce its effectiveness. Medicines, which include ethanol, enhance the action of tablets.
Chlorhexidine is pharmaceutically compatible with preparations of the cationic group and is incompatible with alkaline and anionic compounds. Ascorbic acid in combination with indirect anticoagulants and heparin reduces their effectiveness. When interacting with benzylpenicillin and tetracycline, there is an increase in their concentration in the blood plasma. Vitamin C lowers the concentration of oral contraceptives in the blood, and tricyclic antidepressants reduce tubular reabsorption.

Storage conditions
