Release form

Dexapos is a drop for eye use. The solution does not have a specific color, it is transparent. Active component is dexamethasone - a glucocorticosteroid hormone substance.

Dexapos is dispensed in plastic bottles-droppers of 5 ml. Each bottle has its own packaging of cardboard, with a nested instruction for use.

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient dexamethasone, which is a part of the drops of Dexapos, provides a strong anti-inflammatory effect. The effect of the drug with topical application was proved after the successful treatment of inflammatory and allergic processes in the anterior ocular segment. In the postoperative period, Dexapos is used as a preventive and medicinal agent for possible inflammation of the eye.

The specificity of the curative effect of a corticosteroid substance has not been definitively determined at this time. Binding to protein intracellular receptors affects the metabolic processes at the gene level. In addition, the protein structures necessary for chemotaxis and immune responses are inhibited.

Also, corticosteroid hormones affect the state of humoral and cellular immunity, provoking the appearance of monocytopenia and lymphocytopenia.

Pharmacokinetics

A few studies indicate that in the local application of such drops as Dexapos, therapeutic concentrations of the active substance dexamethasone can be detected in the tissues. At the moment when a small amount of the active ingredient appears in the intact epithelial layer of the cornea, in the presence of an inflammatory process or damage to the cornea, the penetration increases.
