Ichthyol ointment is not used together with other similar agents, which include alkaloids, iodine salts and heavy metals.

Streptocide ointment is an effective antimicrobial drug, with regular use it suppresses the growth of pathogenic microorganisms.

It is prescribed for purulent and ulcerative skin lesions, burns, wounds and cracks.

It can not be used for intolerance to salfanilamide, disorders of kidneys, porphyria, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and also in childhood.

During treatment, allergic reactions may develop.

Before application, the wound should be cleaned well, if necessary, a sterile dressing is applied after application. The duration of treatment depends on the nature and severity of the wound.

Sterptocid ointment is not used concomitantly with preparations containing digitoxin, hydrochloric acid, phenobarbital, caffeine, metazone, adrenaline hydrochloride.

Ointment is applied 2-3 times a day, the duration of treatment is not more than 20 days. The drug usually does not cause adverse reactions, sometimes there is an allergy, dizziness. If there is intolerance to the components that are part of the ointment, use is contraindicated.  

• Solcoseryl (an analogue of Actovegin) promotes the rapid recovery of the epithelium, the healing of the wound. The calf blood extract (active substance of the drug) improves metabolic processes in the tissues, blood circulation, increases oxygen supply. The drug is suitable for use from birth, it is recommended for the treatment of burns (including sunburn), frostbites, long-term healing wounds, small ulcers, abrasions, scratches, cuts.

Ointment should be applied after drying and the appearance of bright red tissue on the wound site, in the early days it is better to use Solcoseryl or Actovegin in the form of a gel. Duration of treatment on average 2 weeks (gel days 5-7 and ointment until complete healing).

In rare cases, rashes, itching, hives and other allergic reactions may occur. At occurrence of any reactions at the child it is necessary to stop treatment and to give antihistamines accordingly to age.

It should be noted that when using two or more ointments with Solcoseril simultaneously, the therapeutic effect of the latter is reduced.

• Levomekol contains an antibiotic that is active against most pathogenic microorganisms, and a substance for accelerating tissue regeneration.

The ointment has a water-soluble basis, due to which pus is drawn from the wound.

Levomecol can be used after 1 year, suitable for the treatment of burns, cuts, infected or parched wounds.

Method of application: soak the sterile gauze bandage with ointment and apply to the cleansed and antiseptic treated wound. Change the bandage every day, treatment is determined in each case separately, usually the ointment is stopped to use after the appearance of red tissue at the site of damage or disappearance of purulent masses.

Use during pregnancy

Ointment with open wounds is usually allowed to use pregnant women, since there is no absorption in the systemic bloodstream, does not have a negative effect on the development of the fetus and the condition of the woman.
