Zocardis is an ACE inhibitor (a drug from the category of artificial and natural compounds used to eliminate cardiovascular pathologies, kidney failure, and also as a protective agent against ionizing radiation).
Indications Zocardis
It is used in the treatment of the following disorders:
- elevated blood pressure of any severity;
- acute myocardial infarction;
- heart failure or the presence of symptoms indicating it.
Release form
The drug is released in tablets, in the amount of 7 pieces inside a blister pack. There is 1 such blister in a box. Also, a blister can contain 14 tablets. In this case, there are 1 or 2 blister plates in a pack.
Pharmacodynamics
The drug has a hypotensive effect. The mechanism of its effect is due to a decrease in the volume of angiotensin type 2 formed from angiotensin type 1. At the same time, a decrease in the secretion of aldosterone, a decrease in the values of diastolic and systolic blood pressure, and also a decrease in the degree of pre- and post-load in relation to the myocardium are noted.
The active element of the drug helps to dilate arteries without affecting veins or causing an increase in heart rate. The binding of PG increases when using Zokardis, while the process of bradykinin degradation decreases.
Long-term use of the drug helps reduce left ventricular hypertrophy within the myocardium. In the process, left ventricular dilation is inhibited, and in addition, the progression of heart failure is completely stopped.
When taking the drug, there is an improvement in myocardial blood supply, as well as a decrease in platelet aggregation. The antihypertensive effect is observed approximately 1 hour after oral administration of the drug. The duration of therapeutic effect is 24 hours.
Pharmacokinetics
Calcium zofenopril is absorbed very quickly - almost immediately after entering the gastrointestinal tract. After absorption, the element is converted into zofenoprilat.
The component reaches peak plasma levels 1.5 hours after the first use of the drug. Protein synthesis of zofenoprilat is 88%. The component undergoes metabolism in the liver, resulting in the formation of an active product of zofenoprilat breakdown.
The clearance rate of zofenoprilat is 1.3 L/min. Most of the element is excreted via the kidneys, and another 26% is excreted in the intestine.
Dosing and administration
The tablets are taken orally. Their intake does not depend on food intake. In order for the medicine to be quickly absorbed by the body, it should be washed down with a large volume of liquid (it is recommended to use plain water at room temperature).
During treatment of high blood pressure, either 0.5 tablets of 30 mg or 2 tablets of 7.5 mg are taken per day. The frequency of doses per day is once or twice.
To treat water-electrolyte imbalance disorders, the drug should be started with the minimum effective dose - 0.5 tablets per day. This scheme is due to the specifics of treatment with ACE inhibitors, which requires optimizing water or electrolyte balance, as well as completely stopping diuretic therapy several days before starting to use Zocardis. If necessary, the dose size of the drug can be reduced to a quarter of a tablet per day.
For treatment of people with mild to moderate liver dysfunction, the initial dose is half the standard dose prescribed for people with healthy liver function.
If the patient has a severe liver disorder, the use of the medication is prohibited.
For therapy of acute myocardial infarction, the drug is used in combination with additional agents. The drug should be taken no later than 24 hours after the patient's first signs of pathology appear. Such treatment should last at least 1.5 months.
If blood pressure drops significantly during treatment, it is necessary to refrain from increasing the minimum dosage or stop using the drug altogether. In people without symptoms of heart failure, therapy can be completed after 1.5 months of taking the drug.
Longer term therapy is suggested for use in people with symptoms of left ventricular failure or general heart failure, as well as with elevated blood pressure.

Use Zocardis during pregnancy
Zocardis is prohibited for pregnant women. It is used with great caution during lactation.
Contraindications
Among the contraindications:
- hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or excipients of the drug;
- Quincke's edema caused by treatment during which drugs from the ACE inhibitor group were used;
- liver dysfunction;
- severe renal failure;
- the presence of lesions in the area of the arteries that supply both kidneys;
- mitral valve stenosis or aortic stenosis;
- hyperkalemia;
- people who have previously received a kidney transplant.
Side effects Zocardis
The use of the drug can lead to the appearance of various side effects:
- dysfunction of the cardiovascular system: decrease in blood pressure. Sometimes there are also painful sensations in the sternum area. Most often, angina pectoris, arrhythmia, fainting, tachycardia, as well as pain affecting the heart develop;
- disorders of the central nervous system: development of headaches, feelings of weakness, anxiety and increased fatigue, as well as dizziness and sleep disorders;
- problems with the functioning of the sense organs: tinnitus and dysfunction of the vestibular apparatus;
- lesions affecting the digestive system: various functional disorders (constipation, pain, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, etc.), as well as dryness of the oral mucosa. Liver dysfunction is occasionally observed;
- respiratory dysfunction: isolated cases of bronchospasm, dry cough, and pharyngitis are observed;
- signs of allergy: very often such manifestations as myositis and rash on the skin surface develop. The occurrence of Stevens-Johnson syndrome has been reported sporadically.
Overdose
Taking the drug in too large doses increases the risk of developing signs of intoxication:
- a sharp and strong decrease in blood pressure values;
- the appearance of convulsions;
- development of stupor.
It should be remembered that a sharp drop in blood pressure can lead to stroke, myocardial infarction, collapse or thrombolytic complications. So, when the first symptoms of poisoning appear, you should contact a doctor to receive timely medical care.
Interactions with other drugs
When using the medication in combination with other therapeutic agents, the following negative effects may occur:
- combination with analgesic, antipyretic, hypotensive, diuretic and anesthetic drugs leads to the development of an antihypertensive effect;
- when combined with potassium-sparing diuretics, as well as with NSAIDs, a weakening of the antihypertensive properties of the drug is observed;
- when combined with lithium salts, inhibition of lithium secretion occurs;
- When taken together with cytostatics, alloprinol and immunosuppressants, an increase in the hematotoxicity of the drug is observed.
Storage conditions
Zocardis should be kept in a place closed to children. Temperature indicators - no more than 30°C.

Shelf life
Zocardis can be used for 3 years from the date of release of the therapeutic agent.
Application for children
There is no data on the possibility of effective and safe use of the drug in children, therefore it is prohibited to prescribe it to this age category.
Analogues
The following drugs are analogs of the drug: Diroton, Zonixem and Dapril with Euroramipril, and in addition to this Lizi Sandoz, Cardipril with Lisinovel and Captopril, as well as Lizoril and Polapril with Moex and Lisinopril. The list also includes Ramag, Prestarium, Ramimed, Prevencor with Ramizes and Promepril, and in addition to this Prenesa, Renitek, Topril and Ramira. Together with these drugs also Fozikard, Ena Sandoz, Skopril, Enalapril with Hartil and Enap.
Reviews
Zocardis is often discussed in general topics, because there are currently a large number of ACE inhibitors on the market. At the same time, patients mainly compare the drug with its medicinal analogues.
There are very few exclusively negative reviews regarding the effects of the drug on forums, so we can say that the drug is quite effective. But it should be taken into account that during therapy it is necessary to constantly contact your attending physician, because the patient subjectively feels changes in his condition, and for a sober and objective assessment of the effectiveness of the drug, the participation of an experienced doctor is required.
