Versatis has a local anesthetic effect.

The drug contains the local anesthetic lidocaine, which is an acetamide derivative that has a membrane-stabilizing effect and can also block the activity of Na channels inside excitable neural walls. After local application to intact epidermis, the required medicinal effect develops - pain relief in a certain area. The drug does not have a systemic effect.

Indications Versatis

It is used for the following disorders:

  • pain (also of a vertebrogenic nature);
  • inflammations of various natures that affect the skeletal muscles - myositis;
  • postherpetic neuralgia.

Release form

The drug is released in the form of a patch for local use - 5 pieces inside a sachet. The box contains 1, 2 or 6 such sachets.

Pharmacokinetics

Approximately 3±2% of the substance from its total volume contained inside the patch is adsorbed. Blood Cmax values equal to 0.13 μg/ml are observed after simultaneous application of 3 patches over a 12-hour period. Protein synthesis inside the plasma is 50-80%.

Distribution processes are carried out at high speed (the half-life of the distribution stage lasts 6-9 minutes) and occur first within tissues that are well supplied with blood, and then develop within muscle and adipose tissues.

Lidocaine can cross the BBB and placenta, and is excreted in breast milk (about 40% of plasma levels in women). Metabolic processes occur inside the liver, accounting for 90-95%, with the participation of microsomal enzymes with subsequent formation of metabolic components with medicinal activity.

Excretion occurs via the kidneys and also with bile. Up to 10% of the therapeutic component is eliminated unchanged.

In people with liver disease, the metabolic rate drops to 10-50% of the standard level.

In chronic renal failure, metabolic elements can accumulate because acidification of urine increases the excretion of lidocaine.

Dosing and administration

The patch should be applied to dry epidermis (the area should be free of inflammation or damage) in the area where pain occurs. The procedure is performed once a day, the maximum duration of keeping the patch is 12 hours. A maximum of 3 patches can be used at a time. If the protective film is still present on the patch, it can be cut into the required number of pieces. The therapy can last 0.5-1 month; if the desired result is not achieved, it should be discontinued.

The patch should be applied externally, sticking it to the epidermis immediately after removing it from the sachet and removing the protective plastic film. Hair in the treatment area should be trimmed with scissors (shaving is prohibited).

After the gluing procedure, you must immediately wash your hands. Do not touch your eyes with unwashed hands.

Contraindications

Main contraindications for the patch:

  • damaged epidermis in the area where the patch is applied;
  • diagnosed intolerance to lidocaine and other components of the drug.

Caution is required when using in the following situations:

  • in case of infections or injuries affecting the epidermis in the intended treatment area;
  • in weakened people or during acute periods of pathologies;
  • when using class I antiarrhythmic drugs, as well as other local anesthetics;
  • in old age.

Side effects Versatis

The use of the patch may cause negative immune reactions - for example, contact dermatitis, the symptoms of which are epidermal rashes, itching, hyperemia and urticaria, as well as burning in the areas that were exposed to the drug. In addition, there have been cases of Quincke's edema.

Overdose

The possibility of Versatis intoxication is extremely unlikely, although it cannot be completely ruled out, because improper use of the patch can lead to the development of elevated plasma levels that do not correspond to standard marks that provide a medicinal effect. General toxicity similar to that observed when using lidocaine as a local anesthetic can be observed. In this case, the following signs are noted:

  • respiratory depression, anaphylaxis, tinnitus, visual disturbances, feeling of coldness or heat;
  • tremors, dizziness, euphoria, convulsions, anxiety or fear, headaches and agitation affecting the central nervous system;
  • bradycardia, depression, increased blood pressure.

Lidocaine has no antidote. If suspicious symptoms develop, remove and dispose of the patch immediately and consult a doctor.
