Release form

Uregit has the appearance of round, flattened, light-colored tablets with a dosing notch and the inscription UREGYT.

The cardboard pack contains two blister plates, 10 tablets in each plate.

One tablet contains 50 mg of ethacrynic acid.

Pharmacodynamics

The main ingredient of the drug Uregit is ethacrynic acid, which is a powerful fast-acting diuretic. The drug blocks active chlorides and, accordingly, sodium transport in the ascending part of the loop of Henle.

The diuretic effect of Uregit significantly exceeds the effect of some thiazide drugs. In addition, the drug Uregit has virtually no diabetogenic effect.

Pharmacokinetics

Uregit shows its effect half an hour or an hour after taking the tablets.

The peak effect is observed within two hours, with the diuretic effect lasting from six to eight hours.

The connection with whey proteins reaches 90%.

A certain amount of the active ingredient is conjugated in the liver. Up to 67% of the consumed amount of the drug is excreted from the body through the kidneys, and up to 33% through the intestines, partially - up to 20% - in unchanged form or in the form of a conjugated metabolic product.

The half-life can range from one to four hours.

Dosing and administration

The regimen for taking Uregit is developed individually, since the degree of need to increase diuresis depends on the severity of edema and the general health of the patient.

At the beginning of therapy, it is recommended to use the minimum amount of Uregit - from 25 to 50 mg (half or a whole tablet). Uregit is taken with the morning meal, or immediately after it. The initial amount of the drug can be gradually increased by 25 mg. It is best to do this once every 2-3 days.

Standard maintenance treatment is carried out using 25-200 mg of Uregit per day. In rare cases, the dose can be increased to the maximum permissible dose, which is 400 mg.

Any daily dose of the drug exceeding 50 mg should be taken in two doses – during breakfast and during dinner.

It should be taken into account that elderly patients may only need to take a minimal amount of Uregit.
