Cystitis is an inflammation of the inner lining of the bladder. Its symptoms include pain in the lower abdomen, colic and difficulty urinating, fever, general malaise, cloudy urine, the presence of "flakes" in it, sometimes fragments of blood, frequent urge to go to the toilet. It is impossible to ignore its symptoms, and it is impossible to delay treatment, otherwise the infection can affect the kidneys. The urologist will prescribe the necessary antibacterial drugs according to the identified pathogens, diet, plenty of fluids, herbal decoctions with a diuretic effect, and other therapeutic measures. Palin has a good reputation in the treatment of cystitis.
Indications Palina for cystitis
The active substance of the drug is pipemidic acid, so it will help with cystitis for those whose disease is caused by bacteria sensitive to it. Palin is prescribed for both acute conditions accompanied by blood in the urine and chronic cystitis. These may also be other diagnoses associated with inflammation of the urinary system: pyelonephritis, pyelitis, prostatitis, urethritis.
Due to its anatomical structure (short and wide urethra), women are most susceptible to the disease, with men it happens less often. The occurrence of female cystitis is also facilitated by menstruation, at this time bacteria penetrate the body more easily, immunity is weakened, hygiene rules may not be observed. Palin will also help in the case of female cystitis.
The drug is also used to prevent possible infections during instrumental urological and gynecological procedures.
Release form
Palin is produced in the following forms:
- capsules filled with white powder (200 mg), packaged in 10 pieces in a blister;
- film-coated tablets (400 mg);
- vaginal suppositories (200 mg).
Pharmacodynamics
Palin is a quinolone with a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity. It is especially effective against gram-negative bacteria and to a lesser extent gram-positive bacteria: pipemidic acid destroys their DNA. Anaerobic microorganisms are not affected by it. [ 1 ]
Pharmacokinetics
The bioavailability of the drug sometimes reaches 60%. The highest concentration of the active substance is localized in the kidneys, urine, and prostate gland. In blood plasma, its peak occurs 1-2 hours after administration. Most of it is excreted from the body through the urinary organs. [ 2 ]
Dosing and administration
Usually, with cystitis, palin is taken for 5-10 days, at the discretion of the doctor, the course is extended to 4 weeks. An uncomplicated disease can be treated in 3 days. Women have the opportunity to treat urinary tract infection in parallel with tablets and also with the help of suppositories. During the week, one suppository is inserted at night.
- Application for children
Palin can be used by children starting from the age of 14. Pipemidic acid leads to muscle hypertonicity and also accumulates in cartilage, which is an obstacle to its use at an earlier age.
Use Palina for cystitis during pregnancy
The effect of the drug on the fetus has not been properly studied. Insufficient epidemiological data gives grounds not to recommend it for use by pregnant women. If you are breastfeeding and need to be treated with palin, it is better to stop lactation for a while.
Contraindications
In addition to the above-mentioned contraindications for the use of palin, it should not be prescribed to people with allergies to its components, those suffering from epileptic seizures, other neurological diseases that cause seizures, severe kidney and liver pathologies, and cerebrovascular accidents. The drug should be used with caution by people over 70 years of age.
Side effects Palina for cystitis
Palin is generally well tolerated by patients and has no major complaints about side effects. Possible negative effects of treatment include nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, tremors, convulsions, nervous excitement, depression, headaches, insomnia.
Overdose
Exceeding the recommended doses can cause overdose symptoms: dizziness, vomiting, sometimes even loss of consciousness. If the patient is able to induce vomiting, wash out the stomach, this should be done immediately. The active substance is eliminated from the body by hemodialysis in 6 hours.
Interactions with other drugs
Palin slows down the action of theophylline, increases the concentration of caffeine and enhances the therapeutic effect of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, warfarin, cimetidine, rifampicin. Drugs that neutralize stomach acidity and sucralfate, used for gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, reduce its absorption.
Storage conditions
The preparation is stored in a dry, dark place, out of reach of children. The room temperature should not exceed +25ºС.
Shelf life
The shelf life is 5 years, after which it must be disposed of.
Analogues
There are a large number of drugs for treating cystitis that are analogues of palin: uropimid, urotractin, pipegal (with the same active ingredient); amoxisar, biseptol, gentos, indomethacin, nolitsin, furadonin (based on other components, but with the same therapeutic effect).
