Talcid is an antacid. It contains a substance with a mesh-layered crystalline structure, which includes a minimal amount of magnesium with aluminum.
Indications Talcid
The medicine is indicated for patients suffering from ulcers or inflammations of the stomach and duodenum in acute or chronic form (gastritis or duodenitis, or peptic ulcer). In these diseases, the acidity level of gastric secretion also increases.
In addition, Talcid is used to treat digestive system disorders associated with poor diet or the use of drugs that have ulcerogenic properties.
The drug is also used in the complex treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, as well as in cases of heartburn, belching and a feeling of fullness and heaviness in the stomach.
Release form
It is produced in the form of chewable tablets, which are packed in blisters (10 pcs.). One pack contains 2 blister plates.

Pharmacodynamics
The medicine contains hydrotalcite, a 3rd generation antacid. The drug allows you to quickly and for a long time reduce the acidity level of gastric secretion to the required natural level of 3-5 units, without causing increased alkalization of the gastric contents.
The drug has gastroprotective properties, which are created as a result of long-term binding of hydrochloric acid and pepsin, and in addition to this, activation of the protective functions of the stomach.

Pharmacokinetics
In case of internal administration of the drug in therapeutic doses, no significant changes in the concentration of magnesium and aluminum in the plasma were observed. The active substance of Talcid is almost not absorbed through the digestive tract.
In case of treatment with Talcid (including long-term treatment), no changes in peripheral blood parameters were noted either. Hematocrit, hemoglobin, urea, sugar, leukocytes, and in addition calcium and potassium ions do not change.
Dosing and administration
The drug is taken orally - the tablet should be chewed and then washed down with water. The medicine should be taken 1-2 hours after a meal or when signs of increased acidity occur, regardless of food intake. The duration of the course, as well as the dosage, is prescribed by the attending physician.
In case of ulcer of the duodenum or stomach, the usual dosage is 2 tablets 3-4 times a day (after meals and before bedtime).
In case of dysfunction or inflammation in the upper digestive tract, it is usually prescribed to take 1-2 tablets 3-4 times a day (after meals and before bedtime).
Doctors do not recommend taking more than 12 tablets of the drug per day.
Use Talcid during pregnancy
There is currently insufficient information on the use of the drug during lactation and pregnancy. During the studies, no negative reactions were observed in pregnant women taking Talcid. If necessary, only the attending physician can prescribe the drug to pregnant women.
Contraindications
The medicine is contraindicated for people with hypersensitivity to hydrotalcite, as well as additional elements of the drug. Also, the use of Talcid is not recommended if the patient has kidney disorders.
Interactions with other drugs
Talcid cannot be combined with tetracycline antibiotics, and in addition with fluoroquinolone derivatives (including ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin). The active substance of Talcid, hydrotalcite, impairs the absorption of the above antibiotics, thereby reducing the effectiveness of their action.
Talcid can also reduce the absorption of digoxin, iron, and also anticoagulants from the coumarin group and anthropodeoxycholic acid. If such drugs need to be taken simultaneously, it is necessary to maintain a 1-2 hour interval between uses.
Storage conditions
Talcid should be stored in places closed to children at a temperature of 15-25 degrees. At the same time, the air humidity in the room should not exceed 70%.

Shelf life
Talcid is approved for use for 5 years from the date of manufacture.
