Indications for use

Spray for lichen is recommended for use in various forms of this disease. Treatment should be started with the appearance of the first signs of lichen: pigmentation disorders (the skin can become darker or lighter, becomes red or pink in some places), the appearance of peeling and blisters with transparent liquid, itching of the skin.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Let's consider the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of sprays for lichen using the example of the popular drug "Termikon".

Terbinafine hydrochloride, which is an allylamine and is included in most sprays for lichen, has an excellent antifungal effect. Due to the fact that this component has a destructive effect on the biosynthesis of cell membranes of fungi (Trichophyton violaceum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton tonsurans, Trichophyton rubrum, Microsporum canis, Candida albicans, Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides) in the early stages, there is a deficiency of ergosterol. This helps to accumulate squalene inside the cell. It has a detrimental effect on fungi.

Since the spray is used only externally, the systemic absorption of the drug is insignificant - about 5% of terbinafine. Therefore, we can talk about the minimal systemic effect of the drug.

Spray for versicolor lichen

A fairly popular drug that helps cope with the treatment of pityriasis versicolor is Lamisil Spray.

The active ingredient of this spray is terbinafine hydrochloride. Due to this, it is effective against numerous fungi and pathogenic microorganisms. This component can easily cope with dermatophytes, mold and dimorphic fungi.

To treat versicolor lichen in adults, the spray is used no more than twice a day. Before applying, the skin should be thoroughly cleaned. The preparation is sprayed in such a quantity as to completely moisturize the skin. The product should also be applied to healthy areas of the skin that are nearby.

This drug is not prescribed to children.

During pregnancy, the use of the spray is limited; it can only be applied under strict medical supervision.

The spray is also contraindicated in case of intolerance to the main component. Patients with liver and kidney diseases should use the drug very carefully. Among the main side effects, it is worth highlighting various allergic reactions that lead to a burning sensation, itching and redness.

The active ingredient of the drug is terbinafine, which acts on a fairly wide range of mold fungi, dermatophytes, dimorphic fungi, and yeast fungi.

Before spraying the preparation on the skin areas, they need to be washed and dried. The dosage of the preparation is approximate, because the product needs to be applied until the skin becomes sufficiently moist. The duration of therapy depends on the diagnosis and the severity of the disease. As a rule, pink lichen is treated for one week. In this case, the spray should be applied twice a day.

Improvement usually occurs within a few days after the patient has started treatment. However, it should never be stopped, as this may lead to a relapse of the disease.

The most common side effects include: peeling, itching, redness, irritation and even pain at the site of application. If such signs appear, treatment should be stopped immediately. It is not recommended to use the product if you are intolerant to its components.
