Spregal

Spregal is a specialized drug prescribed for scabies. You can buy it in pharmacies without a prescription.

The drug also contains the following substances:

  1. Piperonyl butoxide.
  2. Esdepallerin.
  3. Various auxiliary components.

Spregal is a combination drug that has an acaricidal effect. The drug contains esdepallerin, which has a detrimental effect on the nervous system of the scabies mite. When this substance enters the parasite's body, it disrupts the membrane structures of the cells of its nervous system. The second substance helps enhance the effect of esdepallerin.

A positive result can be seen immediately after the first use of the spray. The medicine is well tolerated not only by adults, but also by children (even infants). One aerosol can be used to treat three patients.

Spregal is produced in a form that allows it to easily cover the entire surface of the skin and penetrate deep into its layers.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The main active component is a neurotoxic poison - esdepallerin. It affects the nervous system of parasites. Its mechanism of action is based on the disruption of cation exchange in cell membranes.

The active substances of Spregal spray can be detected in the blood one hour after the drug is applied. The largest amount of esdepallerin in the body can be detected after 60 minutes, and piperonyl butoxide after 120 minutes. When a day has passed after applying the spray, the amount of its substances in the patient's blood decreases significantly. In some cases, they are not detected at all. All traces of the drug's use completely disappear two days after its application to the skin.

How to use scabies spray

Spregal is used externally only. To get the most positive result from the treatment, it is necessary to follow some rules:

  1. Therapy should be given to all family members who complain of itching.
  2. During treatment, be sure to disinfect bed linen, clothing and personal hygiene items to prevent recurrence of the disease.

It is recommended to apply the spray after midday. It is best at 5-6 p.m. It is very important to do this in a well-ventilated room where there is no open fire. Before spraying, undress completely and stand on a towel prepared in advance. Hold the bottle with the product at a distance of at least 20 cm from the body. When spraying, try to avoid spraying the product on the hair and face. First, treat the stomach, chest area, back, and then the arms and legs. Try to thoroughly treat every centimeter of the body. Spray well the areas between the fingers and toes, on the bends of the joints, armpits.

After application, put on clean clothes. Do not take a bath or shower for twelve hours after spraying. After this period, wash thoroughly with soap and dry your body with a towel.

As a rule, one procedure is enough to completely cure scabies. But it is worth remembering that even with a favorable outcome, the sensation of itching of the skin and other symptoms may still appear within one week after treatment. This is normal. If they do not pass after this period, it is necessary to repeat the spraying.

Using scabies spray during pregnancy

Spregal is prescribed during pregnancy only in extreme cases, as its components can harm the fetus. If there is a need to use the drug during lactation, then you should stop breastfeeding until the therapy is completed.
