Septefril has an antiseptic effect. It belongs to the category of drugs used for the treatment of throat diseases.

Indications Septefril

It is used in the treatment of the following disorders:

  • diseases affecting the oropharynx (including tonsillitis, pharyngitis with stomatitis or tonsillitis, etc.). It is also used to prevent the development of these pathologies;
  • sanitation of the pharynx and oral mucosa in individuals who are carriers of pathogenic staphylococcus or diphtheria bacilli;
  • prevention of the development of infectious complications before and after surgical procedures, as well as during dental operations inside the nasopharynx and mouth.

Release form

The release is carried out in tablet form, in the amount of 10 pieces inside a blister pack. The box contains 1 such package.

Pharmacodynamics

The active element of the medicine, the component decamethoxin, is a representative of the category of ammonium compounds and has a powerful antiseptic effect. By influencing the cells of bacteria located on the mucous membranes, this component changes their strength.

Decamethoxin has a very wide range of antimicrobial therapeutic activity (this includes purulent cocci, diphtheria corynebacteria, enterobacteria, staphylococci with pseudomonads, viruses, spore bacteria, yeast-like fungi, protozoa and dermatomycetes). The use of Septefril inhibits the formation of bacterial forms resistant to decamethoxin.

The use of the drug in combination therapy leads to potentiation of the effect of other antimicrobial drugs. Septefril has a fungicidal, bactericidal and sporicidal effect on bacterial cells. The development of maximum medicinal effectiveness is noted after 7-10 minutes after the use of the drug. The effect lasts for at least 1 hour.

Dosing and administration

The tablets used should not be swallowed or chewed, they must be completely dissolved in the mouth.

For an adult, the medication is prescribed in a dosage of 4-6 tablets per day, and for a child (over 5 years old) - 3-4 tablets per day.

This course of treatment lasts no more than 3-4 days (for both adults and children), but sometimes it is allowed to extend it up to 1 week.

Use Septefril during pregnancy

There is no information regarding the use of Septefril in nursing or pregnant women. If you need to take the drug during lactation, you should stop breastfeeding.
