Pharmacodynamics

As a result of pressure on the nerve endings of the large intestine, its reflex increase in peristalsis occurs and a laxative effect occurs. The mucous membrane is affected by products that are formed from sennosides with the participation of enzymes of the normal intestinal flora. Also, Senade, due to the inhibition of adsorption of ions Na, H2O, D-xylose, increases the content and increases the motility of the large intestine. This is explained by the increase in the density of prostaglandin E2 in the intestinal walls, due to the activation of the release of Na and H2O.

Pharmacokinetics

The active substance Senade is practically not absorbed. Excretion occurs mainly with feces or a little with urine. Systemic bioavailability is about 5%. The laxative effect occurs eight to ten hours after taking the medication. A reaction occurs in the large intestine, resulting in the formation of active free anthraquinones.

Dosing and administration

Since the medication has a ruminative effect, it is most often taken in the evening before bedtime once a day.

Adult population and children over twelve years of age:

It is recommended to take one pill before bedtime, drinking water or any other liquid. The maximum allowed is three pills.

Child population from six to twelve years old:

Before going to bed, you can take half a tablet with water. The maximum you can take is two tablets per day.

To select an effective dose for the patient, it is necessary to gradually increase it by half a tablet over three days. If there is no effect from the medication upon reaching the maximum dose, it is worth contacting a doctor.

Use Senade during pregnancy

The use of the drug during the gestation period is possible only under the supervision of medical personnel, since taking the medication during this period is prohibited. Overdose

If a patient takes a dosage of the drug that significantly exceeds the recommended dose, he may experience the following dangerous sign of overdose - severe diarrhea, which leads to dehydration.

To treat this condition, the patient needs to drink as much liquid as possible. This will cause a compensation effect and the lost liquid will be restored. In some cases, when this therapy is ineffective, intravenous administration of plasma substitutes may be required.

Special instructions

Reviews

The drug acts quite gently. The effect usually occurs after eight hours, although there are people who notice the effect after a couple of hours. If after taking Senade the patient complains of increasing diarrhea, severe dehydration and abdominal pain, you should immediately consult a doctor. A significant disadvantage of using this drug is rapid addiction, because of this the intestines can practically stop functioning on their own.

There are recommendations in the information space for using this medication for weight loss. To do this, it should be taken half an hour before meals. But it should not be used in this capacity (due to addiction) for more than two weeks.

Shelf life

If all storage requirements for the medication are met, it can be stored for up to three years.
