Release form

Sedafiton has several forms of release: tablets in blisters and in a container, motherwort, valerian and hawthorn extract thick. Capsules have a green-gray or gray-brown color with multi-colored inclusions. The container contains 50 capsules, and one package can have 2, 4 or 8 blisters of 12 tablets each.

Sedafiton forte. An effective drug for eliminating mild neurotic disorders is Sedafiton forte. The drug is available in the form of capsules with an enteric coating. Each capsule contains the following substances: thick extract of valerian rhizomes 100 mg, thick extract of motherwort herb 60 mg, extract of hawthorn fruits 60 mg. Auxiliary components are: potato starch, magnesium stearate, talc, magnesium carbonate, povidone.

The sedative properties of the drug are based on the components included in its composition. Plant extracts affect the functional activity of the autonomic and central nervous systems, regulate cardiac activity, normalize blood pressure, suppress the feeling of fear and anxiety.

  • Indications for use: various mild neurotic disorders. Unreasonable anxiety, fear, fatigue, depression, sleep disorders. The product effectively relieves painful sensations during PMS, climacteric syndrome and dysmenorrhea.
  • Contraindications: hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, severe forms of arterial hypotension, depressive states, pregnancy and lactation, patients under 12 years of age.
  • The recommended dosage is 1 capsule 2-3 times a day. The duration of therapy depends on the severity of the disease and the effect of treatment in the first days. In case of overdose, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and dilated pupils appear. Symptomatic therapy is indicated for treatment: gastric lavage and desensitization agents.
  • Side effects most often manifest themselves in the form of allergic reactions. Gastrointestinal disorders, tachycardia, dizziness, and drowsiness are also possible.

The medicinal effect of the drug is due to the components included in its composition. The pharmacodynamics of Sedafiton indicate that tannins, essential oils and saponins affect the central nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. Sedative and antispasmodic activity is also observed. The drug normalizes cardiac activity, reduces heart rate and blood pressure. It soothes, relieves mental stress and accelerates the process of falling asleep.

One of the active components of the drug is hawthorn extract. It contains choline, flavonoids and phytosterols, acetylcholine, triterpene acids. The substance improves blood supply and circulation in the coronary and cerebral structures, increases myocardial contractility and reduces its excitability. Due to this, the endurance of the heart muscle increases in hypoxia and blood pressure in the vessels is normalized. The tablets lower the level of cholesterol in the blood.

Pharmacokinetics

The therapeutic effect of Sedafiton develops 60-90 minutes after taking the drug. Pharmacokinetics indicates rapid absorption and soaking, which is ensured by the enteric coating of the tablets. The therapeutic effect lasts for a long period of time. The active components are metabolized in the liver and excreted by the kidneys with urine in the form of metabolites.

Dosing and administration

The method of administration and dosage of the drug depend on the severity of the pathological symptoms. Sedafiton is recommended to be taken 1-2 capsules 2-3 times a day. If the drug is used to treat insomnia, it is better to take the tablets 1-2 hours before going to bed. The course of treatment is determined by the doctor individually for each patient. Use Sedafitona during pregnancy

The importance of using sedatives during pregnancy should be determined by the attending physician. Sedafiton is not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation, since there is no reliable data on its safety for the fetus.

Contraindications

The main contraindications for the use of Sedafiton are related to individual intolerance to its components. The drug is not prescribed during pregnancy and lactation, for patients under 12 years of age. The herbal sedative is not used for depressive states, arterial hypotension, pathologies of the cardiovascular or respiratory systems.

Enhances the activity of antihypertensive drugs and analgesics. Affects the effect of Digoxin. Not recommended for use with third-generation antiarrhythmic drugs. Sedafiton is prohibited to be taken simultaneously with alcohol, as the drug enhances the effect of alcohol.

Storage conditions

According to the storage conditions, the tablets must be kept in the original packaging, in a dry place protected from sunlight, inaccessible to children. The recommended storage temperature is 15-25 ºС. If the storage conditions are not met, the drug loses its medicinal properties.

Shelf life

Sedafiton has a shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture (indicated on the package). After its expiration, the drug is prohibited for use and must be disposed of. An expired drug does not have therapeutic properties and can cause uncontrolled side effects.
