Rosenthal paste is used for local treatment of areas in the area of muscles and joints that are affected by painful sensations. It has a local distracting, irritating and disinfecting effect. The therapeutic activity of the drug develops due to the properties of its active elements.
Due to the interaction of medicinal substances, the medicine has a combined effect, reducing the period of therapy and increasing therapeutic effectiveness. One of the main advantages of the medicine is the impossibility of overdose.
Pharmacodynamics
Ethanol with chloroform and iodine after processing the epidermis have a local irritating effect, due to which the mechanism of reflex changes existing inside the body is immediately launched. After this, there is a gradual weakening of discomfort and pain.
Alcohol with iodine has pronounced bactericidal activity.
Paraffin has a warming effect on the treated area, softens the epidermis and leads to the development of an additional analgesic effect.
Treatment with Rosenthal Paste gradually causes relief of motor functions.
Dosing and administration
The medicine must be used locally, for external treatment. The substance is applied with a tampon to the infected areas once a day. Excess paste should be removed with a tampon made of gauze and cotton wool.
The duration of the therapeutic cycle is selected taking into account the result obtained, the patient’s condition and the type of pathology.

The medicine should not be used during breastfeeding or pregnancy.

Side effects include signs of intolerance (for example, urticaria, Quincke's edema or contact dermatitis).

Interactions with other drugs
The medicine is prohibited to be combined with local substances that contain ammonia or essential oils, and in addition with medications for external treatment that contain organic components - this is due to the fact that this may lead to denaturation of protein elements.
It cannot be combined with disinfectants that contain sulphur, mercury or reducing agents, as well as with brilliant green.
Shelf life
Rosenthal paste can be used for a period of 36 months from the date of sale of the medication.
Application for children
It is prohibited to prescribe the drug in pediatrics.
