Revalgin is a non-narcotic analgesic antispasmodic drug.

Indications Revalgin

It is used for pain accompanied by spasms in the smooth muscles of the internal organs:

  • renal or hepatic colic;
  • spasm in the bladder area;
  • colic in the gastrointestinal tract;
  • dysmenorrhea of a spastic nature;
  • biliary dyskinesia.

The medicine also eliminates pain caused by sciatica, neuralgia, and arthralgia. It is used as an auxiliary medicine for pain relief after surgeries or during diagnostics. In addition, it can be prescribed to reduce high temperatures and treat inflammations and infections.

Along with this, injections of Revalgin solution can be used for migraines, headaches, and myalgia.

Release form

It is available in tablets and injection solution.

The tablets are packed in blisters, 10 pieces each. Inside the pack there are 2 or 10 such plates.

The solution is available in 2 ml ampoules. There are 5 ampoules inside the box. The ampoules can also have a volume of 5 ml, 5 pieces of such ampoules inside a blister pack. There are 5 or 25 such ampoules in the box.

Pharmacodynamics

Revalgin is a complex drug, an antispasmodic and an analgesic. It contains the elements fenpiverinium bromide, sodium metamizole, and pitofenone hydrochloride. The properties of the drug are due to the effects of medicinal components.

Pitofenone is an antispasmodic with a powerful myotropic effect similar in its action to papaverine. Pitofenone reduces increased smooth muscle tone, removes spasms, and in addition has an analgesic effect in case of pain of a spastic nature.

Sodium metamizole is an NSAID based on the element pyrazolone. Metamizole has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties, therefore it helps to reduce the binding of proinflammatory cytokines. Due to this, an intensive reduction in inflammation is primarily observed.

Fenpiverinium bromide is an anticholinergic agent that, through anticholinergic processes, helps to relax the smooth muscles of internal organs.

All active ingredients of the drug potentiate each other’s properties, thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness of the medication.

Pharmacokinetics

Sodium metamizole is partially synthesized with blood proteins, undergoes metabolic processes in the liver, and is then excreted in the urine, as well as in the form of metabolic products.

Dosing and administration

Using an injection solution.

Revalgin is administered parenterally, both intravenously and intramuscularly. Before intramuscular administration, the ampoule should be warmed to body temperature. The injection should be administered in the buttock area. The medicinal effect develops after 20-30 minutes.

When injecting intravenously, the rate of administration should be slow - the rate should be 1 ml/minute. During the administration, the blood pressure level, heart rate indicators, and respiratory function should be monitored. The duration of such a course of treatment is determined by the doctor.

Use of tablets.

The medicine can also be used orally. It is recommended to take the tablets after meals, washing them down with plain water. The duration of such a course, as well as the portion sizes, is determined by the attending physician, for each patient separately. Often 1-2 tablets are used per day. The therapy should last a maximum of 3 days.

Overdose

As a result of poisoning, symptoms such as convulsions, dry mouth, liver or kidney dysfunction, accommodation disorder, and, in addition, a feeling of confusion may appear.

Symptomatic treatment is required to eliminate the effects of overdose. Gastric lavage is performed, and the use of saline laxatives and enterosorbents is prescribed. There is also a possibility of forced diuresis or hemodialysis procedures.

Interactions with other drugs

It is strictly forbidden to use the medicine together with ethanol.

The drug should not be prescribed in combination with other non-narcotic painkillers, as this may lead to the development of toxic effects.

Oral contraception, as well as antidepressants, inhibit the liver metabolism of the substance metamizole, which increases the likelihood of developing toxicosis.

Barbiturates, as well as other inducers, significantly reduce the effects of metamizole.

Sedatives with tranquilizers potentiate the analgesic effect of Revalgin. If these drugs need to be combined, you should first consult with your doctor.
