Paramin is an anti-tuberculosis drug.

Indications Paramina

It is used to treat active forms of tuberculosis that are in a progressive stage (mainly chronic pulmonary tuberculosis, which has a fibrous-cavernous form).

The drug is released in granules - 100 g inside a container. The pack contains 1 such container.

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient of the medicine is sodium aminosalicylate. The medicine has a bacteriostatic effect on tuberculosis mycobacteria.

Paramin is often combined with other anti-tuberculosis drugs (such as tubazid and other GINK drugs, as well as kanamycin with cycloserine).

Thanks to complex treatment, it is possible to delay the development of drug addiction and increase the therapeutic effect of anti-tuberculosis drugs.

When used in large doses, the drug has an antithyroid effect.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, the drug is well absorbed, passing into the blood serum and tissues of various internal organs.

Metabolism mostly occurs inside the liver, 0.5-1 hour after the drug is taken. During this process, the element is acetylated and binds to glycine.

About 90-100% of the consumed portion is excreted in urine per day.

Dosing and administration

The medicine should be taken 30-60 minutes after eating, washing down the granules with mineral water or milk.

The adult dose is 5 g of the medicine, taken 2-3 times a day.

For children, the portion size is calculated according to the scheme 0.2 g/kg of the drug per day. This portion should be divided into 3-4 uses.

The dosage for children weighing over 40 kg is 5 g of the substance taken twice a day.

If the patient does not tolerate the medication well, it is necessary to reduce the dosage.

The treatment lasts at least 3-5 months. If necessary, it can be extended.

Use Paramina during pregnancy

It is prohibited to use Paramin during pregnancy. You should also stop breastfeeding while taking the medicine.

Contraindications

Among the contraindications:

  • renal (nephritis) or hepatic (cirrhosis or hepatitis) pathology in severe form;
  • amyloid dystrophy;
  • presence of an ulcer;
  • hypothyroidism;
  • decompensation of cardiac function;
  • hypofunction of the thyroid gland.

Side effects Paramina

Also loss of appetite and abdominal pain. Allergy symptoms may occur, including fever, urticaria, joint pain, enanthem, eosinophilia, purpura and asthmatic symptoms.

The appearance of pain and an increase in the size of the liver may be noted.

The above symptoms often disappear after reducing the dose or stopping the drug for a short time. They are less severe if the drug is taken according to the instructions and with regular three meals a day.

To eliminate allergy symptoms, antihistamines, vitamin C and CaCl2 are used. If there are prolonged allergic symptoms, corticosteroids are used. It is also necessary to consider the possibility of developing phlebitis or hematomas.

Overdose

Taking into account the nature and severity of the symptoms of poisoning, the use of drugs must be stopped for a short period of time, or completely abandoned.

To eliminate disorders, CaCl2, antihistamines and vitamin C are used, and in case of prolonged disorders, corticosteroids.

Interactions with other drugs

Paramin increases isoniazid levels in the blood because it competes with it for shared metabolic pathways.

The drug interferes with the absorption of substances such as erythromycin with rifampicin, as well as lincomycin.

Interferes with the absorption of cyanocobalamin, which can ultimately lead to anemia.

Storage conditions

Paramin should be kept in a dark place, out of reach of children. Temperature values – no more than 25°C.

Shelf life

Paramin can be used for 3 years from the date of manufacture of the therapeutic agent.

Application for children

Due to the complexity of the dosage regimen, the medication is prohibited for use in children weighing less than 10 kg.
