Pharmacodynamics

The range of the drug's effects is determined by the presence of the GABA element in its structure. The drug has neuroprotective, neurotrophic, and neurometabolic properties. It slows down the acetylation process that occurs during the inactivation of novocaine with sulfonamides, which allows for the prolongation of the effects of these substances. It slows down the bladder reflex, which is enhanced due to the disease, and provokes the development of detrusor tone.

It has an analgesic effect, stabilizes GABA levels in cases of alcohol poisoning (in chronic form), and at the same time improves the body's performance (intellectual and physical). The drug has an anticonvulsant effect.

Pantocalcin stimulates anabolic processes occurring within neurons, and in addition, it increases the brain’s resistance to hypoxia and the effects of toxins.

Pharmacokinetics

Pantocalcin is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Peak plasma levels of the active component are observed after 1 hour. The highest levels of the drug are observed in the kidneys with the liver, and also in the stomach walls. The drug does not participate in metabolic processes.

Excreted unchanged for 48 hours.

Dosing and administration

For the treatment of hyperkinesis and epileptic seizures, the daily dose of the drug should be 1.5-3 g. The therapy should last 1-5 months. In epilepsy, the course of treatment usually lasts 1 year.

In case of strong mental, psycho-emotional, and also physical stress, it is necessary to take 0.25 g of the drug three times a day.

To eliminate problems with brain function that have arisen due to a TBI or in connection with the development of a neuroinfection, the medicine must be taken three times a day - 0.25 g each.
