Pregnancy is a special time when every woman is much closer acquainted with her body and knows herself. In this amazing period, the woman's body, hormonal background, mental and emotional state change. Unfortunately, as a rule, in the first or second trimesters of pregnancy, many expectant mothers experience an unpleasant feeling of pain in the ovaries. Sometimes they can have a nagging, dull character, but sometimes they are quite harsh.
Causes of the pain in the ovary during pregnancy
- Sprain. During pregnancy a woman's uterus grows and rises above, together with the rise above and adjacent organs, namely the ovaries. Therefore, when it seems to a woman that she feels pain in the place where the ovaries are habitually located - she is mistaken, they are probably not there anymore. And the ligaments that support the uterus, which stretch during its active growth, can cause pain.
- Inflammatory processes in the ovaries (adnexitis) or their appendages (oophoritis), against the background of which conception occurred. In this case, a pregnant woman should be constantly monitored by her gynecologist, since such a picture can pose a real threat of premature termination of pregnancy.
- Pain in the intestines, extending to the lower abdomen. Often, women perceive any pain in the lower abdomen as pain in the ovaries. This is not true. Various intestinal diseases can lead to pain that spreads all over the lower abdomen. Pregnant women need to properly monitor their diet, always seeking regular and soft stools. If these pains are long lasting, you should consult a doctor.
- Neoplasms on the ovaries. Benign and malignant neoplasms, such as cysts or tumors, can cause severe pain in the ovaries during pregnancy. Pregnant women with such a diagnosis should be constantly monitored by a doctor and often almost all pregnancies are carried out at the hospital in the gynecological departments of hospitals.
- An ectopic pregnancy can also cause severe pain in the ovaries and in the lower abdomen.
