Where it is possible to make ultrasound of the uterus and what other studies are included in the diagnostic complex of the pelvic organs, consider this. Ultrasound examination of the uterus includes examination of the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
Ultrasound (echography) of pelvic organs belongs to a leading role in a complex of diagnostic methods. This is due to the non-invasiveness, relative simplicity and high informative nature of the method.
Numerous recent studies have shown that ultrasound is a valuable method for diagnosing hyperplastic processes of the endometrium, adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, etc. Transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound should complement each other, it is necessary to take into account the advantages and disadvantages of each method. According to several authors, transvaginal ultrasound is a routine procedure in gynecological practice, supplementing bimanual examination. The use of transvaginal ultrasound is limited in children and patients who do not live sexually.
As an improved method of diagnosing intrauterine pathology, in recent years, transvaginal ultrasound has been recognized with the use of a contrast agent - hydrotonography, ultrasonogetherography. Hydro sonography allows differential diagnosis of polyps and hyperplasia of the endometrium, polyps and submucosal nodes, as well as clearly identify the localization and clarify the size of intrauterine formations.
Promising directions that provide more accurate diagnosis of uterine pathology are intrauterine ultrasonography and three-dimensional echography. In recent years, in addition to ultrasound diagnostics of pathological processes accompanied by anatomical changes in internal genital organs, ultrasonic dopplerometry is widely used to determine their functional state. Dopplerography allows you to objectively assess the degree of hemodynamic disorders in the arteries, blood supply to the uterus, with various gynecological diseases. With the advent of color Doppler mapping, which allows simultaneously to assess the direction, speed and nature of the blood flow, the possibilities of diagnosing peripheral circulatory disorders have significantly expanded.
The main indication for the procedure is lower abdominal pain, abnormal bleeding from the vagina, infertility, lack of menstruation, monitoring of intrauterine disease, suspicions of various tumors and much more.
To date, there are several methods of ultrasound of the uterus:
- Transvaginal - is carried out using a sensor that is inserted into the vagina and closest to the uterus. Allows you to conduct the most reliable diagnosis of the reproductive system.
- Transabdominal - examination is carried out through the abdominal wall with a filled bladder. This procedure is considered an overview, after which a transvaginal diagnosis is performed.
- Transrectal - diagnosis is carried out through the rectum, is used to examine patients who do not live sexually. For the study, the same sensor as for vaginal ultrasound is used.
- Transperineal - ultrasound diagnosis is carried out through the perineum, in patients not living a sexual life, as well as in children and women with atresia, that is, vaginal invasion.
With the help of ultrasound of the uterus, it is possible to identify benign and malignant tumors, to determine the presence of normal or pathological pregnancy and other pathologies.
