Orgametril

Orgametril exhibits progestogenic activity. The drug is an artificial progestogen that must be taken orally.

The active element of the drug has medicinal properties that are also observed in natural progesterone. During therapy with this medication, an intense progestogenic effect on the endometrium develops. With its continuous use, menstruation and ovulation are suppressed, which is why the drug is used when there is a need to develop a strong progestogenic effect.

Indications Orgametril

It is used in case of such violations:

• dysfunctional uterine bleeding;
• oligomenorrhea, amenorrhea or dysmenorrhea;
• endometriosis or endometrial cancer;
• PMS;
• a benign neoplasm in the breast area;
• delay in normal menstruation;
• HRT using estrogens (in combination therapy).

The drug is released in tablets - 30 pieces in a cell pack; in a box - 1 such pack.

Pharmacokinetics

Linesterone is absorbed into the body at high speed, transforming into active norethisterone. Metabolic processes are realized in the liver. Plasma values of Cmax of norethisterone are recorded after 2-4 hours from the moment of administration of the drug.

Excretion of the drug occurs through the intestines and kidneys.

Dosing and administration

The medication is taken orally, the tablets are washed down with plain water. If the next dose was missed, it is taken immediately (but only in cases where the delay in use is less than 24 hours).

It is important to take into account that the first day of the cycle is the beginning of menstruation.

In case of polymenorrhea, 5 mg of the substance (1 tablet) is used per day – within the 14th-25th day of the cycle, during menstruation.

In case of metrorrhagia and menorrhagia, it is necessary to take 2 tablets per day for 10 days. Often, bleeding stops after a few days. The treatment course is repeated over the next 3 menstrual cycles in the dose taken on days 14-25. If there is no result from the therapy, additional diagnostics are carried out and a different treatment regimen is selected.

The medication can only be prescribed by the attending physician, who selects the therapeutic regimen and portion sizes. Diagnostics are constantly performed, which should confirm the effectiveness of the therapy. It is prohibited to use Organometril without a doctor's prescription.

Use Orgametril during pregnancy

Contraindicated for use in case of pregnancy.

Contraindications

Among the contraindications:

• severe disorders and pathologies associated with liver function;
• vaginal bleeding of unknown origin;
• herpes or severe itching associated with therapy using steroid substances.

Side effects Orgametril

The use of the medication may cause some side effects, including weight gain, nausea, and the appearance of spotting and heavy bleeding.

Depression, headaches, migraines, nervousness, chest pain, dizziness and jaundice, as well as changes in liver function, have occasionally been observed. In addition, decreased glucose tolerance, epidermal rash and itching, chloasma, acne and hirsutism have been reported. Amenorrhea and edema may occur after completion of therapy.

Overdose

In case of poisoning, vomiting and nausea occur.

If any disturbances occur, symptomatic actions are performed.

Interactions with other drugs

The combination of the drug with barbiturates, activated carbon, rifampicin, carbamazepine, as well as with hydantoin derivatives, laxatives and aminoglutethimide leads to a significant weakening of its therapeutic effect.

At the same time, Orgametril itself can enhance the medicinal, drug or toxicological effects of theophylline, cyclosporine, as well as β-blockers and troleandomycin.

Administration together with macrolides sometimes causes liver intoxication.

The drug may weaken the therapeutic activity of insulin.

Orgametril must be stored in a place protected from children, moisture and sunlight.
