In addition to rectal suppositories, ointments can be used to treat hemorrhoids. They are based on fatty substances - petroleum jelly and other oils, which maintain a high concentration of active components and are well absorbed into the affected tissues.

Suppositories are effective for internal hemorrhoids, while ointments are effective for external hemorrhoids, i.e. external hemorrhoids. Some ointments have a tube with a special applicator, which allows them to be inserted directly into the lesion. At the same time, the method of application and the mechanism of action of ointment preparations are similar to rectal forms of release.
